E9 G - Present a job, place or topic

Mini-Beschreibung: Present a job, an English-speaking place or a familiar topic. Use a few good pictures and clear sentences. Du arbeitest im E9-G-Sprachmodus: kurze zusammenhängende Texte, häufige Wörter, klare Struktur und viel Kontext. Kommunikation ist wichtiger als Perfektion.

Learning loop: English first → understand → respond → ask → hint → improve → use again.

Einleitung

Look at the three pictures. Choose one. Say one easy sentence in English.

Job idea: A firefighter helps people.

Place idea: London is a big city in the UK.

Topic idea: Football is a popular team sport.

Die drei Bilder stammen aus Wikimedia Commons. Nutze Medien nicht nur als Dekoration: Zeige auf ein Detail, beschreibe es oder nutze es als Anlass für eine Frage.

I can ...

Am Ende kannst Du:

  1. present: I can give a short talk about a job, place or topic.
  2. speak clearly: I can use short, connected sentences.
  3. ask: I can ask and answer a simple follow-up question.
  4. write: I can write a short structured text about my subject.
  5. use media: I can choose one useful picture and check basic facts.

Vorwissen aktivieren

Choose one picture above.

Think – Pair – Share

  1. Say three words you already know.
  2. Make one sentence: It is ... / It has ... / You can ...
  3. Ask one question: What does ... do? / Where is ...? / Why do you like ...?

Hint 1: Use words from the picture.

Hint 2: Start with: This is ...

Hint 3: Add a reason: I chose it because ...

Listening and Viewing

Watch the video once without stopping. Do not use the transcript or subtitles first.

First viewing: What is the main task? What do the speakers do well?

Second viewing: Listen for useful presentation language. If needed, switch on English subtitles after your first attempt.

Listen for:

  1. an opening
  2. two or three clear points
  3. an ending
  4. eye contact and clear voice

Respond: Tell a partner one thing you understood.

Ask: Can you say that again? or What do you mean?

Improve: Watch a short part again and copy the rhythm of one useful sentence.

Reading: Three mini models

Read only one model first. Then choose another one if you need more ideas.

A job – fictional profile

Maya is a paramedic in Bristol. She helps people in emergencies. She works with a team and uses medical equipment. The job can be stressful, but Maya likes helping people.

A place – London

London is the capital of the United Kingdom. The River Thames runs through the city. Visitors can see places such as the London Eye. I would like to visit London because there is a lot to see.

A familiar topic – football

Football is a team sport. Players pass the ball and try to score goals. You need teamwork and practice. I like football because I can play it with friends.

Understand: Find the topic sentence, two details and one reason.

Respond: Say which text was easiest to understand and give one reason.

Context vocabulary

Use only the words you need.

Job Place Topic Presentation
work, help, team, skills city, river, building, visit sport, music, game, hobby first, also, because, finally

Useful chunks:

  1. Today I want to present ...
  2. One important point is ...
  3. You can see ...
  4. I like / chose it because ...
  5. Finally, ...
  6. Do you have a question?

Pronunciation and Fluency

Aim for clear speech, not a perfect accent.

Chunking: Speak in small groups of words.

Today I want to present / a place in the UK. / It is London. / I chose it / because it is interesting.

Stress: Make key words stronger: London, river, interesting.

Practice:

  1. Read once slowly.
  2. Read again with natural pauses.
  3. Look up after each sentence.
  4. Record yourself only if you want to. Keep the recording private unless you choose to share it.

Speaking: Build your short presentation

Choose one path.

JOB Today I want to present the job of ... . A ... works ... . The person needs ... . One good thing is ... . I find this job ... because ... .

PLACE Today I want to present ... . It is in ... . You can see ... . People can ... . I would like to go there because ... .

TOPIC Today I want to present ... . It is about ... . You need / can ... . One important point is ... . I like it because ... .

Target: about 5–8 clear sentences and one useful picture.

Partner question: What do you like about it? What skills do you need? What can you do there?

If you do not understand: Can you repeat the question, please? Do you mean ...?

Functional grammar

Use grammar to communicate.

Present simple for facts and routines: A paramedic helps people. Players train regularly.

There is / There are for places: There is a river. There are many museums.

Can for possibilities and abilities: You can visit the London Eye. A firefighter can work in dangerous situations.

Because for reasons: I chose London because I like big cities.

Three accuracy goals only:

  1. Check the verb after he / she / it: works, helps, likes.
  2. Use normal word order: subject + verb + detail.
  3. Start sentences with a capital letter and end them clearly.

Writing

Write a short text of about 60–90 words.

Plan:

  1. Opening: What is your subject?
  2. Detail 1: What is important?
  3. Detail 2: What can people do / what does a person do?
  4. Reason: Why did you choose it?
  5. Ending: What should the reader remember?

Writing frame:

My topic is ... . First, ... . Also, ... . You can / A person can ... . I chose this topic because ... . Finally, ... .

Keep your own text. If you use digital tools or AI feedback, check facts, sources and suggestions. Do not replace your own voice with an automatically generated full text.

Mediation

Do not translate every word. Give the important information.

German note: Treffpunkt für die London-Gruppe ist um 9 Uhr vor dem Museum. Bringt eine Regenjacke und etwas zu trinken mit.

Task: Tell an English-speaking partner the key information in 2–3 English sentences.

Hint: Start with: We meet ...

Help levels

Level A – small hint: Use 5 key words and speak freely.

Level B – sentence starters: Use the frames from the Speaking section.

Level C – strong support: Write 5 short sentences first. Read them once, then speak again with only key words.

Feedback and error analysis

Give feedback on communication first.

Two stars and one step:

  1. Star: One sentence was clear.
  2. Star: One detail or picture helped me understand.
  3. Step: Improve one point next time.

Use only a few correction signs: V = verb, WO = word order, ? = unclear, + = good idea.

Improve: Correct one or two important errors. Then use the improved sentence again in a new mini-presentation.

Transfer

Change your subject but keep the same structure.

Example: Today I want to present London. → Today I want to present the job of a firefighter. → Today I want to present football.

The structure stays useful even when the content changes.

Can-do check

Tick what you can do.

  1. I can start a short presentation.
  2. I can give two or three clear details.
  3. I can use because for a reason.
  4. I can ask or answer one follow-up question.
  5. I can improve one sentence after feedback.

If one point is difficult, go back to the matching section and try again.
