Context: Maya writes for a fictional school magazine. She interviews Noah about a small school project called “Green Friday”. Both profiles are fictional. There are no real social-media accounts or private data.

Listening: Core interview

Core audio mode: two speakers only, about 120–135 words per minute, clear pauses, familiar school topic, played or read twice. A teacher or two classmates can read the script aloud. A recording is optional and should stay private/local unless everyone involved has agreed to another use.

First listen – big picture: Do not take full notes. Choose one idea:

A) A school sports match B) A small environmental school project C) A class trip

Second listen – key details: Write only keywords for these points:

What happens on Friday?
What did Noah do last week?
Why does he like the project?
What does Maya want to know at the end?

Speaker check: Mark each statement with Maya or Noah.

asks about the next Friday
gives a reason for enjoying the project

Direct feedback: If you miss a detail, listen again only for the key word in the question. Do not restart by translating every sentence.

Maya: Why do you like the project?

Noah: I like it because everyone can help. You do not need special skills, and the jobs are short.

Maya: What is happening next Friday?

Noah: A new notice board is being prepared for the entrance. We want to add short tips from students.

Maya: So, how can someone join?

Noah: Just come to room 12 after school. You can try it once before you decide.

Maya: Great. Thanks, Noah.

Check: The main idea is the school project. Maya mainly asks questions; Noah mainly gives information and reasons.

Reading: Interview structure

An interview is a structured conversation in which one person asks questions and another gives answers. In this course, you focus on three signals:

question → listen for the topic
answer → listen for the key information
reason → listen for because, so or a similar link

Read and connect:

Maya asks why Noah likes the project. Noah says that everyone can help. He gives a reason: students do not need special skills.

This is more useful than translating every line.

Aim for clear meaning, not accent imitation.

Say these chunks with a small pause between meaning groups:

Stress the important words: like – because – everyone – help.

Self-check: Can your partner understand the message without seeing the sentence? If yes, your pronunciation is doing its job.

Functional grammar – notice and use only what you need

Reported speech without backshift:

Noah says that everyone can help. Maya asks how students can join.

Use this to report information from the interview.

Passive – G level: receptive only. Notice the form; you do not have to produce it:

A new notice board is being prepared.

Ask yourself: Is the focus on the person doing the action, or on the notice board?

Past perfect – G level: receptive only. Notice the time order; do not force it into your own answer:

We had planned the ideas before the meeting.

The planning happened before the meeting.

No past perfect progressive is required here.

Speaking: Ask, answer, report

Work with a partner. Use fictional information.

Round 1 – interview:

Ask three questions about a school club, hobby or project.
Answer in two connected sentences.
Give one opinion with a reason.

Useful frame: I think it is useful because ...

Round 2 – report:

Sam says that ... Sam thinks that ... because ...

Use fewer sentence starters than in earlier levels: choose only the ones you really need.

Recording: Optional. Keep recordings private/local. Do not upload voices or names without clear permission.

Writing: A short interview note

Write about 70–90 words.

Task: Write a short school-magazine note about a fictional interview.

Structure:

Who was interviewed?
What was the main topic?
What was one important detail?
What opinion and reason did the person give?

Useful language: The interview was about ... / Alex says that ... / One important point is ... / Alex likes it because ...

Do not copy a model sentence by sentence. Your own wording matters.

Your German-speaking classmate asks: Worum ging es im Interview?

Give three short German key points. Do not translate the whole transcript.

Then return to English and say one sentence: The main point is ...
