Which meaning fits? Try first. Then use a digital learner's dictionary. Look at the example sentence and the word class.

Use a digital dictionary

A good learner's dictionary can show useful parts of a word entry. You do not need every detail.

5. audio: how the word can sound

Reading: choose the right meaning

Read the mini text.

Sam looked at the screen. The word match was new in this sentence: “Our team won the match.” Sam opened a learner's dictionary. The first meaning he saw was not useful. He checked another meaning and found a sports example. Then he listened to the audio and read the sentence again.

Try:

Safe and smart tool use

1. Use trusted learner dictionaries and school-approved tools.
2. Keep recordings voluntary and private. Do not upload classmates' voices without permission.
3. Do not send your text to an external AI tool unless your teacher and school rules allow it.
4. If AI gives a level, meaning or correction, check it with context and a reliable dictionary.
5. Keep your own writing. Tools can help you check; they should not replace your text.
