Pronunciation

Speak slowly and clearly. Being easy to understand is more important than sounding like a native speaker.

Ben is in English class. He needs a blue pencil. He asks Jay: “Can I borrow a blue pencil, please?” Jay gives him a pencil. Then Ben looks at task four. He does not understand one word. He asks the teacher: “What does ‘neighbour’ mean?” The teacher gives a short example. Ben says: “Thank you.”

Check: What does Ben need first? Why does he ask the teacher?

When I need support, I can ask “Can you me, please?”. When I do not understand, I can say “I don't .” When I want to hear a sentence one more time, I can say “Can you say that , please?”. When I need a school item for a short time, I can ask to it. The word makes many requests friendlier. After someone helps me, I can say .
