Yesterday was Friday. Mia had breakfast at 7:15. She was tired, but she was OK.

Then Mia went to school by bus. At the bus stop, she saw a small dog.

After school, Mia got a message from Leo. Leo came to the park. They did a photo challenge. Their friends were there too.

Later, they went to the cinema. The film was funny. Mia and Leo had a good evening.

Story check: Who came to the park? What did Mia see? Where did they go later?

Do not learn a long list. Notice the small chunks from the story.

Key idea: These verbs are irregular. Their simple past form does not follow one easy -ed rule. Learn the form inside a short sentence.

Be in the past: I/he/she/it was. You/we/they were.

Listen and repeat

Listen more than once. Then say the word. Clear speech is the goal; you do not need to copy one accent.

Pronunciation mini-task: Say two chunks: “went to school” and “came to the park”. Keep the important past verb clear.

Understand: picture story

Look at the four pictures again. Put the events in your head in this order: breakfast → bus → park → cinema.

Use these sentence starters:

Answer in short English:

Write: a 4-sentence message

Write about a fictional yesterday. Use at least three target verbs.

Example: Yesterday I went to the park. I saw a dog. My friend came too. It was fun.

Check: Is your story easy to understand? Did you use past forms? Did you use only words you really understand?

Optional mediation

Tell a German-speaking classmate the three most important facts from Sam's English message in German. Do not translate every word. Keep the meaning.

Feedback: fix only the big targets

Target 1: not “goed” → use went.

Target 2: not “we was” → use we were.

Target 3: if you forget a form, go back to the story, find the chunk, say it, then use it again in a new sentence.

Use again: 30-second story

Look away from the text. Say a new mini-story with went, saw and was/were. Then tell it again and add one of these: had, got, came, did.
