Back to school! In this aiMOOC, you talk about school in simple English. You repeat useful words and learn a few new ones. You work with pictures, a timetable, short audio, mini-dialogues and small tasks.

Read the short text.
Sam's school day
School starts at 8 o'clock. Sam has two lessons. Then there is a break. After the break, Sam has English and Science. At lunchtime, Sam eats with friends. School finishes in the afternoon. At home, Sam does homework and packs the school bag for the next day.
Remember: Sam is a fictional learner.
Check:
- When does school start?
- What happens after two lessons?
- Which two subjects come after the break?
- What does Sam do at home?
Hint: Find the key word in the question. Then look for the same idea in the text.

- Does every sentence start with a capital letter?
- Did you write subject names clearly?
- Did you use I have or we have?

A German note says:

Tell a new English-speaking student the important information.

Lernkontrolle
- New timetable: You get a new fictional timetable. Explain in five English sentences what a learner has on Wednesday and when PE takes place.
- School bag problem: A fictional learner has English, Maths and Art tomorrow. Decide what three school things could be useful and explain your choices in simple English.
- Change the dialogue: Turn the timetable mini-dialogue into a new dialogue for Friday. Keep the question pattern but change the information.
- Important information: Read a short German school note and tell an English-speaking learner only the two or three facts they need.
- Improve speaking: Speak for 30 seconds about a school day, use one piece of partner feedback, and speak again. Explain what you changed.
- Useful message: Write a 5–7 sentence message to a fictional classmate who missed school. Include subjects, homework and one thing to bring.
