These are example sentences. The people and situations in this course are fictional.

Say today once. Then say: every day – right now – yesterday – tomorrow.
Pronunciation goal: Be easy to understand. You do not need to copy one accent.

Mia’s rainy school day
“My name is Mia. I usually walk to school with Sam. Right now, we are waiting for the bus because it is raining. Yesterday, I forgot my umbrella, so Sam gave me his spare one. Tomorrow, I will take my blue umbrella.”
Read for meaning
Answer in short English.
- What does Mia usually do?
- What are Mia and Sam doing right now?
- What happened yesterday?
- What will Mia take tomorrow?
Hint: Find the four time clues.
German help: Suche nach usually, right now, yesterday und tomorrow.
Example: “Right now” tells you about an action that is happening now.
Solution: Mia usually walks to school with Sam. They are waiting for the bus. Mia forgot her umbrella and Sam gave her a spare one. Mia will take her blue umbrella tomorrow.
Vocabulary in context
usually = on many normal days
to wait = to stay until somebody or something comes
forgot = past form of forget
umbrella = something that keeps rain off you
spare = extra; you can use it if you need it
tomorrow = the day after today
Do not learn the words alone only. Use them in a sentence.
Example: “I usually take the bus.”
Practise: choose by meaning
You do not need a big tense table. Ask one question first:
What time meaning do I want?

Important: Time words help, but meaning is more important than memorising a signal-word list.

Hint: Read the time clue first.
German help: Frage: regelmäßig, jetzt, gestern abgeschlossen oder morgen?
Example: “Right now” + an action in progress → “We are waiting.”
Solution: 1 plays; 2 is talking; 3 finished; 4 will take.
Use: speaking, reading and writing
Speaking
Work with a partner or speak quietly to yourself.
Use four time starters:
Usually ...
Right now ...
Yesterday ...
Tomorrow ...
Make four connected sentences about a real or invented school day.
Example: “Usually I cycle to school. Right now I am sitting in English class. Yesterday I played table tennis. Tomorrow I will meet my cousin.”
Recording is optional. If you record yourself, keep the recording private unless your teacher has clearly organised a safe school activity.
Short dialogue
Read with two or three speakers.
Noor: What do you usually do after school?
Alex: I usually meet Leo. But today I am going home early.
Noor: What did you do yesterday?
Alex: I played basketball with Mia.
Sam: And tomorrow?
Alex: I will finish my comic.
Now change two details and perform the dialogue again.
Reading challenge
Read once for the big idea. Read again for time clues.
“Leo usually does his homework before dinner. At the moment, he is helping his sister with a puzzle. Yesterday, he watched a short science video. Tomorrow, he will show the puzzle to a friend.”
Question: Why does the writer use different verb forms?
Hint: The actions belong to different time situations.

Short writing output
Write 5–7 connected sentences about one fictional person.
Include:
- one routine
- one action happening now
- one finished action from yesterday or last weekend
- one future statement
Use at least three time expressions.
Try English first.
Hint: Start with: “Kai usually ...”
German help: Plane zuerst vier Zeitideen. Formuliere dann einen kleinen zusammenhängenden Text.
Example: “Kai usually walks to school. Right now, he is waiting at the gate. Yesterday, he lost his pencil case. Tomorrow, he will look in the library.”
Solution check: There is no single model solution. Check that the verb form matches the meaning you want.
Optional mediation
A German-speaking friend asks what Leo is doing this week. Explain the key information in simple German. Do not translate every word.
Goal: Pass on the important meaning: routine, now, yesterday, tomorrow.
Feedback
Read your mini text again.
- Can another person see when each action happens?
- Do your time words and verb forms fit together?
- Is your text connected, not just four separate examples?
- Can you explain one choice in simple English?
- Is your English clear enough to understand?
Ask a partner for one helpful comment:
“I understand ...”
“Check this time choice: ...”
“This sentence is clear because ...”
Use again
Improve two sentences after the feedback.
Then write one new sentence without copying your first text.
Transfer idea: Change yesterday to tomorrow or right now. What else must change so the meaning is clear?
Safe and smart use of digital tools
Use fictional names and invented personal details in practice texts.
Do not upload photos, voices, names or school information unless your teacher has clearly planned a protected activity.
If your school allows an AI tool, use it only as a checker. Compare its suggestion with your own sentence, decide whether it fits the meaning, and write the final version yourself. Do not send personal data to an external tool.

- Four-sentence mini text: Write four sentences about a fictional pupil. Use four different time meanings.
- Clear speaking: Read your four sentences aloud twice. Focus on clear time words, not on copying an accent.
Standard
- Mini dialogue: Write and perform a dialogue for three fictional speakers. Include a routine, a now-action and one past or future action.
- Time-clue hunt: Find all time expressions in a short English text from your school material and explain what each one helps you understand.
- Rewrite: Change a short text from yesterday to tomorrow. Change only the words that need to change for the new meaning.
- Mediation: Explain a short English school-day text in simple German without translating sentence by sentence.
Schwer
- One-minute talk: Give a short talk about “My school week” with at least four different time references and only a small note card.
- Connected story: Write 7–9 sentences about a fictional day. Make the changes in time easy to follow.
- Peer review: Exchange texts, mark time clues, ask one meaning question and suggest one improvement. Then revise your own text.
- Private audio project: Create a 30–45 second private audio recording of an invented mini text. Do not upload it publicly. Listen once, improve clarity and record again if you want.

- Meaning first: You receive four sentences with no tense labels. Explain what time meaning each sentence communicates and which words helped you decide.
- Change the time: Rewrite a routine sentence so that it describes something happening right now. Explain what you changed and why.
- Past to future: Turn a two-sentence yesterday story into a tomorrow plan. Keep the main idea but adapt the language.
- Mini-text check: Read a short mixed-time text and identify one sentence where the time clue and verb form do not fit the intended meaning. Improve it.
- Spoken transfer: Speak for about 45 seconds about an invented pupil. Move from routine to now to past or future so that a listener can follow the time changes.
- Revision: Improve a first draft after one piece of peer feedback and explain which change made the text clearer.
