Mini-Beschreibung: Connect simple sentences with and, but and because. Write a short text that is easy to understand.


Einleitung

In this mini-course, you learn to write a short connected text. You already know simple sentences. Now you connect them.

Learning loop: see → hear → understand → say → use → feedback → use again

Your goal:

  1. Use linking words: Use and, but and because.
  2. Write: Write 4–6 connected sentences.
  3. Speak: Read or say your text so that other people can understand you.

Hilfe: Think about the meaning. Add something → and. Show a contrast → but. Give a reason → because.


Three useful linking words

and = add information

I like music. I like books. → I like music and books.

but = show a contrast

I like PE. I do not like running. → I like PE, but I do not like running.

because = give a reason

I like art. It is fun. → I like art because it is fun.

Remember: Use linking words only if they help the meaning.


Example: A short connected text

This is Mia. Mia is a fictional person.

My name is Mia, and I am eleven. I like English because I like stories. I like football, but I do not like running. After school, I read and I play with my dog.

Notice: The sentences are short, but they are connected.


Speak and write

Say it first:

I like ______ because ______.

I like ______, but I do not like ______.

I like ______ and ______.

Now write 4–6 sentences about a fictional person or about yourself.

Help: Start with: My name is ... / I like ... / After school, I ... / My favourite ... is ...

Privacy: Recording your voice is optional. Keep recordings private unless your teacher gives you a clear task. Do not upload personal recordings without permission.

AI help: If you use an AI tool, check every suggestion. Keep your own ideas and your own sentences.


Mini feedback

Read your text again.

  1. Meaning: Do the sentences fit together?
  2. Linking words: Did you use and, but or because correctly?
  3. Sentence check: Does each sentence have a clear beginning and end?
  4. Read aloud: Can another person understand you?

Then change one sentence and use it again.
