E5 E - My first English media project

Einleitung

Welcome! In this aiMOOC you make your first small English media project. Choose one: audio, comic, poster or video. Use simple English you already know. Your goal is clear communication, not a perfect accent.

Mini mission: Make a short product about me, my school day, my hobby, my pet, my room or another safe topic. Use fictional names and data if you talk about people.

Learning loop: see → hear → understand → repeat → use → feedback → use again.

Watch and listen: Find three English words you already know. Say them quietly once. Then say one full chunk, for example: Hello! My name is Sam.

Sprechen: You can use short English sentences and chunks in your own media product.
Medienbildung: You can choose a good medium for your idea.
Urheberrecht: You can use your own or clearly reusable media and name the source.
Datenschutz: You can keep private data private and use fictional profiles when needed.

Vorwissen-Check

Think first. No grade.

Can you say your name, age or hobby in English?
Can you ask one simple question, for example Do you like football?
Can you write three connected sentences?
Do you know what a source is?

Choose your media product

Pick one project. Keep it small.

Audio

Make about 20–40 seconds of audio.

Example: Hi! I'm Alex. I like basketball and music. My favourite school day is Friday because we have English. What is your favourite day? Bye!

Try it: Read once. Record only if you want to. A private classroom recording is enough.

Comic

Make 3–5 panels with short speech bubbles.

Example: Hi, Mia! Hi, Ben! What are you doing? I'm drawing a robot. Cool! Can I help? Yes, please!

Poster

Make one clear poster with a title, one picture and 3–5 short English sentences.

Example title: My perfect school break

Example text: I am with my friends. We play table tennis. I have a sandwich and water. It is fun.

Look for ideas, not text to copy. Your English stays your own.

Video

Make about 20–45 seconds of video. You can show drawings, objects or a paper storyboard. You do not have to show your face.

Simple plan: Hello. This is my desk. First, here is my English book. Then, here is my pencil case. Finally, this is my favourite pen. Thanks for watching!

Language toolbox

Use these chunks. Change the words.

Start: Hello! I'm … / Hi! This is …

Connect: and / but / because / first / then / finally
Ask: Do you like …? / What is your favourite …?
React: Great! / Really? / Me too! / That sounds fun.
Get help: Can you repeat, please? / How do you say … in English?

Grammar in action: Use am/is/are, have, can and the simple present to say what is true now or usually true. Grammar helps your message.

Say it again

Choose one sentence from your project.

Read it slowly.
Say it again without reading every word.
Add one connected sentence with and, but or because.
Ask a partner: Is it clear?

Remember: Verständlichkeit ist wichtiger als Akzentfreiheit.

Plan – make – check

PLAN: Choose one topic and one medium.
WRITE: Draft 3–6 short sentences or speech bubbles.
SAY: Read them aloud. Change hard words.
MAKE: Create your audio, comic, poster or video.
FEEDBACK: Ask: Is it clear? What is one good thing? What is one small tip?
IMPROVE: Change one part and use the English again.

Safe and fair media

Use media fairly. The easiest choice is your own drawing, photo, sound or text. You can also use media with a licence that allows your use, for example suitable files from Wikimedia Commons. Check the file page.

If a licence asks for credit, write a simple source line: title – creator – source – licence.

Important: A school project is not automatically free to copy everything from the internet. Ask your teacher when you are unsure.

Privacy first: Use fictional names, places and data when real information is not needed. Recordings are voluntary and can stay private in class. Do not upload photos, voices or videos of other people without the required permission and your school's rules.

AI help: If your school allows an AI tool, use it only as help. Check suggestions. Do not send private data, photos or recordings to an external AI tool without permission. Keep your own English speaking and writing in the final product.

Sprach-Upgrade: Improve your first draft with because, but, first, then and finally without making the language too hard.
Fair-Media-Check: Check every picture, sound and text in your project. Replace anything with an unclear source and document your final choices.

Lernkontrolle

Medium wählen: A class wants to explain a simple school rule to younger pupils. Compare audio, comic, poster and video and justify one suitable choice with two reasons.
Sprache verbessern: Change I like football. It is fun. into a clearer connected mini-text with at least one connector.
Feedback nutzen: Your partner says, I understand the topic, but the ending is too fast. Describe exactly what you would change.
Datenschutz anwenden: A draft video shows a real name, face and school timetable. Decide which details are not needed and design a safer version.
Quellen prüfen: You find a great image online but no clear creator or licence. Explain what you do before using it.
KI-Hilfe bewerten: An AI tool gives you a long text with difficult words. Rewrite the idea so that the final product still sounds like your own Klasse-5 English.
