Einleitung

In this mini-course, you compare Bonfire Night, St Martin's Day and some Christmas customs. You do not learn “what all British or German people do”. You learn careful sentences such as:

Some people celebrate ... In some places, people ... Both events use light, but they are different.

Britain here means Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Customs can be different from place to place and from family to family.

1. describe a festival with 2–4 simple connected sentences.
2. compare two customs with both, but and some people.
3. understand and use a few festival words in a short dialogue.
4. give a short personal response: I would like to ... because ...
