A safe general workflow is to place used items in a designated container, remove visible debris, clean them thoroughly, rinse and dry if the product instructions require it, apply the approved disinfection or sterilization process for the correct contact time, and store processed tools so that they remain protected until the next service.

Do not place contaminated and clean tools together. Do not top up old disinfectant solution without following the product instructions. Record solution changes or equipment cycles when your workplace policy requires documentation.

Gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene. Select glove material according to the chemical, task, SDS, and workplace risk assessment. Replace gloves when they are contaminated, damaged, or when you move to a task that requires a clean pair.


Chemical Exposure and Ventilation

Nail technicians can be exposed to vapors, dust, liquids, and skin contact during repeated services. Good ventilation is a primary control because it reduces airborne contaminants before they reach the breathing zone. Keep general exhaust systems running as required, use local source-capture ventilation when provided, and keep product containers closed when they are not in use.

Use only the amount of product needed for the service. Transfer chemicals only into correctly labeled containers when this is permitted. Keep food and drinks away from chemical work areas.
