Look at the timetable. A real timetable can give you ideas, but your ideal day is fictional. Do not copy names, personal data or real class information.

Think: Is lunch only for eating? It can also be time to talk, relax and meet friends.

Think: Different classrooms can look different. Describe only what you can see. Do not make guesses about people or cultures.

Fictional example – Green Hill School

Our ideal school day starts at 8:30. First, we have English because we like speaking together. At 9:20, we have a science lesson with a small experiment. Then we have a twenty-minute break outside. After the break, we choose between art and music. At 11:30, we have maths in pairs. Lunch starts at 12:15. In the afternoon, we have a project lesson and sports. School finishes at 2:30. We like this day because it has learning, movement and time with friends.

Goal: Be easy to understand. You do not need to sound like a native speaker.

Say these chunks slowly, then at normal speed:

Rules for your group:

1. Everyone gives at least one idea.

Fictional voices

Nora: I want a later start. My ideal day begins at 8:45. I like maths in the morning because I can focus well. After lunch, I want art and PE.

Jay: My ideal day starts at 8:15. I want short lessons and two longer breaks. I also want a project lesson where we build something in a team.

Lina: For me, the best day has English, science and music. I want lunch with friends and twenty minutes of quiet reading before the last lesson.

Reading task: Find one idea you like from each person. Then combine two ideas into one new school day. Explain your choice.

Short writing

Write 70–100 words about your group's ideal school day. Use connected sentences, not only a list.

Include: start time, at least four subjects or activities, one break, lunch, finish time and at least three reasons.

Useful start: Our ideal school day starts at ... First, we ... Then ... We choose ... because ... Finally ...

Self-check: Are your times clear? Do your sentences connect? Did you use because? Can a classmate understand your plan?

Optional mediation

Your German-speaking partner says: Wir wollen später anfangen, nach zwei Stunden eine längere Pause machen und am Nachmittag ein Projekt in Gruppen haben.

Explain the idea to an English-speaking guest in simple English. Do not translate word for word. Keep the main meaning.

Hint: We want to start later. After two lessons, ... In the afternoon, ...

Feedback: Make it better

Use two stars and one step after a group presentation.

1. Star 1: One idea was clear and interesting.
2. Star 2: One English sentence was easy to understand.
3. Step: One small change can make the presentation clearer.

Feedback language: I liked ..., I understood ..., Maybe you can ..., Please speak a little more slowly.

Use again: Present version 2

Give your presentation again in 60–90 seconds. This time:

1. connect your ideas with First, Then, After that, Finally;
2. give reasons with because;
3. look at your audience sometimes;
4. speak clearly rather than quickly;
5. use your notes, but do not read every word.
