Mini description: Create a small English media product: an audio story, a travel guide, a comic or a mini video. Use English you already know. Make your message clear, interesting and safe.

Einleitung

Welcome to your media project! You will look at simple media examples, collect useful words, practise clear speaking and writing, and then create your own short product.

Main rule: Try English first. Use German only when you need help.

Safety rule: Use fictional names and places when possible. Recording your voice or face is voluntary. Keep class recordings private unless your teacher and everyone in the recording agree to another use. Do not upload personal data, photos, voices or school information to external AI tools.

Notice: What is a media product?

A media product has a message, an audience and a format. Your project is small. Clear English is more important than perfect effects.

Choose one format

Understand: Watch and listen

Listen for the main idea first. You do not need every word.

This British Council story is an example of a short story told with clear language and visual support.

Try English first:

What is the story mainly about?
Who is important in the story?
What changes at the end?

Hint: Listen for names, repeated words and the final part.

Example answer: The story is about a secret football team.

A second example shows how a familiar story can be told with pictures, voice and written words.

Understand: A short model

Read this fictional mini travel guide.

Welcome to Pinebridge! Pinebridge is a small town near a lake. You can walk from the station to the old bridge in ten minutes. My favourite place is the green park because you can sit, talk and watch the ducks. There is also a small museum next to the library. Bring a rain jacket because the weather can change quickly. If you have one hour, visit the bridge, the park and the market. It is an easy walk.

Quick check: What three places are in the guide? Why does the writer like the park?

Hint: Look for place words and because.

Solution: The guide names the bridge, park, museum, library and market. The writer likes the park because you can sit, talk and watch the ducks.

Say these words slowly, then in a short sentence:

Hint: Stress the strong part of the important word. Speak in short groups of words.

Read this project brief.

Task: Make a comic with five panels. Two characters miss the bus and need a new plan. Use short dialogue. Add one caption. Give the story a clear ending. Use your own drawings or freely licensed images. Do not use real addresses, full names or private photos.

Try English first: Find one instruction about language, one about media rights and one about privacy.

Hint: Look for dialogue, licensed and private.

Practise: Short writing output

Write a mini script of 60–90 words.

You can use this shape:

Opening: Where are we? Who is there?

Middle: What happens or what do you show?

Ending: What should the audience remember?

Try English first: Write without translating every sentence from German.

Hint: Use short sentences. Add because, but, then or so where useful.

Example: Hi! Welcome to Pinebridge. First, walk to the old bridge. It is small but beautiful. Then go to the park because it is quiet. You can have a snack there. Finally, visit the market. My tip: bring a rain jacket. Have fun!

Use: Create

Choose only what you need.

Audio story: Use a clear beginning, one main event and an ending. Add different voices only if everyone wants to record.

Travel guide: Use a title, 3–5 useful places or tips, and one clear recommendation.

Comic: Use short speech bubbles, clear pictures and a simple story line.

Mini video: Use a short script. Keep clips short. Captions can help the audience.

Less support: Add your own style, a stronger ending, or a second speaker. Do not make the language difficult just to sound advanced.

Media rights, sources and privacy

Before you use a picture, sound or clip, check the source and licence. Wikimedia Commons file pages show reuse information. Your own media is also possible when privacy is protected.
