E5 E - Plan, write and check

Mini-Beschreibung: Plan a short English text with a mind map, write it, and check it. You check ideas, clear sentences, grammar and spelling.

Start: Look, listen, think

Look at the picture. What can a mind map help you do?

Listen and watch. You can stop the video, listen again and say useful words aloud.

Say it:

  1. Plan first.
  2. Write a draft.
  3. Check my text.
  4. Make it better.

Hilfe auf Deutsch: Du musst nicht jedes Wort im Video verstehen. Achte auf die Schritte beim Schreiben.

Deine Lernziele

You can …

  1. plan a short text with a mind map.
  2. write 5–7 connected sentences.
  3. check content, grammar and spelling.
  4. improve your text after feedback.

New words and chunks

English Simple help
plan collect ideas
mind map ideas around one topic
draft first version
check look for problems
clear easy to understand
spelling correct letters in a word

Useful chunks: My text is about … – First, … – Then, … – Also, … – Finally, … – I like … because …

Vorwissen-Check

What do you already do when you write?

  1. Do you collect ideas before writing?
  2. Do you use full stops?
  3. Do you check capital letters?
  4. Do you read your text again?
  5. Do you change a sentence when it is not clear?

Quick task: Say one thing you already do: I check …

Plan with a mind map

Choose one easy topic: My weekend, My hobby or My favourite day.

Write your topic in the middle. Add four branches:

  1. Who?
  2. Where?
  3. What happens?
  4. How do I feel?

Example mind map: My Saturday

Branch Idea
Who? Mia and I
Where? park, home
What? play football, eat lunch, read a comic
Feeling? happy, relaxed

Hilfe: Stichwörter reichen. Noch keine langen Sätze.

Write your draft

Now write. Use your mind map.

Example:

My Saturday is fun. First, I play football with Mia in the park. Then, I eat lunch at home. In the afternoon, I read a comic. Finally, I play with my dog. I like Saturdays because I have time for my hobbies.

Notice: The sentences are short, but they are connected with first, then, in the afternoon, finally and because.

Speak before you write

Say three sentences first:

My text is about …

First, I …

Then, I …

Now write them. Add more details.

Partner feedback: Your partner says one helpful sentence: I understand … or Please make this sentence clearer.

Check your content

Ask:

  1. Is my topic clear?
  2. Do my sentences fit the topic?
  3. Is the order easy to follow?
  4. Did I add one useful detail?

Direct feedback: If one answer is no, change one sentence now.

Check grammar

Check grammar in your real text.

Simple present: I play football. Mia plays football.

Be: I am happy. My Saturday is fun.

Important:

  1. Write I with a capital letter.
  2. Use a full stop at the end.
  3. Check he/she + s when you use the simple present.
  4. Use and, but or because to connect ideas.

Hilfe: Prüfe zuerst nur diese wenigen Grammatikpunkte. Nicht alles gleichzeitig.

Check spelling

Read your text slowly.

Try this:

  1. Point to every word.
  2. Circle a word if you are not sure.
  3. Check the word in your book, word list or dictionary.
  4. Correct it yourself.

Important: A spell checker can help, but it can be wrong. You decide if the suggestion fits your sentence.

Proofreading video

Watch a short tip. Listen again if you want.

After watching, say: I check my text before I finish.

Read, improve, read again

Use the loop:

see → hear → understand → say → use → feedback → use again

Read your text aloud. If a sentence sounds strange, stop and check it.

Clarity is more important than a perfect accent.

Mini-Wiederholung

Three steps:

  1. Plan: Make a mind map.
  2. Write: Write a short draft.
  3. Check: Check ideas, grammar and spelling.

30-second challenge: Say the three steps without looking.

Your mini writing task

Choose one topic:

My weekend – My hobby – My favourite day

Write 5–7 connected sentences.

Use at least two chunks: First, … – Then, … – Also, … – Finally, … – because …

Then check your text with the checklist.

Feedback checklist

My sentences are in a good order. □ / □

I-can-Check

I can …

  1. □ make a simple mind map.
  2. □ write 5–7 connected sentences.
  3. □ check if my text is clear.
  4. □ find and correct some grammar mistakes.
  5. □ check spelling.
  6. □ use feedback and improve my text.

Not yet? Go back to one step and try again.

Safe learning

Use fictional names and fictional personal details in examples. You do not need to upload private texts, photos or recordings.

A voice recording is optional. Keep it private on your device or use a school-approved system only.

If you use an AI tool, check every suggestion. Keep your own ideas and your own English. Do not copy a complete AI-written text as your own work.

Lernkontrolle
