E5 E - A busy picture – Viele Handlungen beschreiben

Einleitung

Look – listen – speak! In diesem aiMOOC beschreibst Du eine busy picture mit mehreren verbundenen Sätzen im present progressive. Du sagst, was Personen gerade tun.

Your goal: Look at a picture and say 4–6 connected sentences: A child is climbing. Two children are playing, and another child is walking near the slide.

Learning loop: see → listen → understand → repeat → use → feedback → use again

Bildungsplan-Bezug Baden-Württemberg, Klasse 5: Hör-/Hörsehverstehen, Sprechen, Schreiben sowie Text- und Medienkompetenz werden in einer konkreten Alltagssituation verbunden.

Deine Lernziele

  1. I can describe actions now.
  2. I can use am / is / are + verb-ing.
  3. I can connect short sentences with and, while, next to und in the background.

Quick start: Look and listen

Look at the picture. What can you see? Do not translate every word. Find actions.

Listen twice. First: just listen. Second: listen and repeat one or two sentences.

Hilfe auf Deutsch: Achte auf die Frage What are you doing? und auf Formen mit -ing. Du musst nicht jedes Wort verstehen.

Vorwissen-Check

Say or think:

  1. What is run with -ing?
  2. Which word fits: She ___ reading. — am, is oder are?
  3. Can you name three actions in English?

If this is hard: no problem. Use the word box below.

Word box

Action Deutsch Useful chunk
running rennen is running
climbing klettern is climbing
walking gehen are walking
talking sprechen are talking
sitting sitzen is sitting
carrying tragen is carrying
drawing zeichnen is drawing
playing spielen are playing

Connect your ideas: and · while · next to · in the background

Grammar in action

Use the present progressive for an action that is happening now:

I am playing. He / She is playing. We / You / They are playing.

The pattern is simple: person + am / is / are + verb-ing.

For more accuracy:

  1. run → running
  2. make → making
  3. play → playing

Deutsch-Hilfe: Beschreibst Du, was auf dem Bild gerade passiert, brauchst Du meist am / is / are + Verb-ing.

A busy picture: Build connected sentences

Model: Some children are playing outside. One child is climbing, and another child is standing near the play equipment. Other children are moving around the playground. The scene is looking busy because several things are happening at the same time.

Now change the model. Use what you can really see in the picture.

Sentence starters:

  1. In the foreground, ...
  2. In the background, ...
  3. A child is ...
  4. Two children are ...
  5. ..., and ...
  6. While one child is ..., another child is ...

Listen, repeat, change

Choose one short sentence from the video.

  1. Listen.
  2. Pause.
  3. Repeat.
  4. Change one word.
  5. Say your new sentence.

Example: She is running. → She is walking.

Important: Clear speech is more important than a perfect accent.

Mini-dialogue

The names are fictional.

Mia: What is Leo doing? Sam: He is drawing, and Aisha is talking to him. Mia: What are the other children doing? Sam: They are playing outside. Mia: Great. I can see them now.

Practice the dialogue. Then change the names and actions.

Transfer picture

Look for different actions. Make four connected sentences.

Useful start: People are walking through the market. Some people are talking, and others are carrying things.

Do not guess personal information about people in a real photo. Describe only visible actions.

One more scene

Try a mini-presentation of about 20–30 seconds: In this picture, I can see ... In the foreground ... In the background ... One person is ... and ...

Listen again: What are they doing?

Listen for action words. Stop after a few examples and say your own sentence before the video continues.

Feedback loop

After your first description, check:

  1. Did I use am / is / are?
  2. Did I use verb-ing?
  3. Did I connect at least two ideas?
  4. Did I describe what I can really see?
  5. Can I say the description again with one improvement?

Then speak or write it again.
