ABI LF - Verantwortlichen KI-Workflow fürs Englisch-Abitur entwickeln

Mini-Beschreibung: Develop and practise the workflow own analysis → own draft → focused AI feedback → source verification → selective revision → final independent check for several Abitur-style tasks. Target group: Leistungsfach Englisch, Kursstufe Baden-Württemberg.

Einleitung

English first. In this aiMOOC, AI is a feedback tool, not an author. You analyse first, write first, verify claims and sources, revise selectively, and finish with an independent check. The aim is not a polished AI text but a stronger your text, your reasoning, your responsibility.

All practice data, mini-texts and scenarios in this course are fictional unless an official source is linked. Recordings are optional and should stay private. Do not upload names, personal data, full copyrighted texts, exam papers, film scenes or other protected material to external AI services. This MOOC does not send material to an external AI service.

Prüfungsbezug Baden-Württemberg: Stand 03.10.2026

For the upcoming Abitur 2027 cohort, the official Facherlass names On the Move: Migration and Cross-Cultural Encounters as the focus topic and also requires the USA and UK topic fields. The Leistungsfach expects broader, deeper and more differentiated work; in course assessment, AFB II and III are emphasised more strongly than AFB I.

2027 check What matters for this aiMOOC
Written part Listening plus Writing; about 30 minutes Listening, then a 15-minute break, then 225 minutes Writing including selection time.
Writing Choice between a literary and a non-literary basis; aspect-related summary, analysis, then personal response or creative writing.
Communication exam Separate oral component of the written Abitur examination: monologic plus dialogic speaking; individual or tandem format.
Overall weighting Listening 20 %, Writing 55 %, Communication exam 25 %.
Tools Written part: monolingual English dictionary, bilingual English-German/German-English dictionary, German spelling reference. Communication exam: monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.

Always re-check your own examination year before using exam-specific details. Official sources:

I-can-Ziele

  1. I can unpack an Abitur operator and define what evidence my answer needs before I use AI.
  2. I can produce an independent first analysis or draft.
  3. I can ask AI for narrow feedback without requesting a replacement answer.
  4. I can verify AI claims, quotations, dates and sources against trustworthy material.
  5. I can revise only the parts I can justify and keep my own voice.
  6. I can complete a final check without AI and explain every major decision in my answer.
  7. I can transfer the workflow to Listening, Reading, Analysis, Speaking, Writing and Mediation practice.

Vorwissen und Diagnose

Before you start, take one minute for each prompt: What makes evidence convincing? What is the difference between a language error and a reasoning error? Which source would you trust first for an Abitur rule? Write your answers before opening any AI tool.

Der verantwortliche KI-Workflow

Step Your work AI may do Evidence of independence
Own analysis Identify operator, task, material, claim and evidence. Nothing yet. Notes, annotations, plan.
Own draft Produce a first answer or speaking outline. Nothing yet. Version 1 in your own language.
Focused AI feedback Ask one narrow question. Diagnose clarity, logic, language or missing evidence; ask questions. Feedback log with the exact focus.
Source verification Check every factual AI claim and every proposed source. Suggest what should be checked, but not count as proof. Source trace to an official, primary or otherwise reliable source.
Selective revision Accept, reject or adapt feedback. Offer alternatives only when you can evaluate them. Short reason for each major revision.
Final independent check Re-read task, evidence, language and source use without AI. Nothing. Final checklist and ownership statement.

Core rule: Do not ask for a complete Abitur essay, analysis or speech. A useful prompt sounds like: “Do not rewrite my paragraph. Identify one unclear claim, one weak link between evidence and reasoning, and ask me two questions that would help me revise it.”

Privacy rule: Use fictional or anonymised material. Never upload another person’s work, private recordings, school accounts, personal data or full copyrighted material without permission and a clear legal basis.

Listening and Viewing

Use the BBC Learning English video as a listening task.

  1. Before listening: predict five topic words from the title and form one question you expect the audio to answer.
  2. During listening: note only keywords, speaker position and one example; do not transcribe.
  3. After listening: write a 70-word independent summary, then compare your notes with the task.
  4. AI feedback: if permitted, paste only your own summary and ask for one missing idea and one language pattern to review; do not upload the audio or a protected transcript.
  5. Independent check: listen again and decide whether the AI feedback is supported by what you actually heard.

Reading und Quellenprüfung

Lateral reading means leaving a page to check who is behind it, what other reliable sources say, and whether the evidence travels beyond the original page.

Use this verification routine for any factual AI output:

  1. Claim: copy the exact claim, not the whole AI answer.
  2. Trace: find the original or official source when possible.
  3. Corroborate: check an independent reliable source.
  4. Date: confirm that the evidence matches the relevant year and context.
  5. Decision: mark the claim verified, uncertain or rejected and revise your draft accordingly.

Kontextwortschatz, Wortbildung und Hilfen

Core word Word family Useful exam phrase
verify verification, verifiable, unverifiable verify a claim against the original source
rely reliable, reliability, unreliable assess the reliability of the evidence
revise revision, revised revise selectively rather than replace the paragraph
independent independence, independently carry out an independent final check
differentiate differentiation, differentiated develop a differentiated analysis

Help ladder — use German last:

  1. Read the word in context.
  2. Look for the word family and familiar prefixes or suffixes.
  3. Use a visual or example.
  4. Read an English explanation.
  5. Check a monolingual English dictionary.
  6. Use a bilingual dictionary and German help only if needed.

Analysis

Use this fictional micro-text:

“An AI tutor can answer in seconds, but speed is not the same as understanding. The difficult part begins when the learner asks which claim deserves trust.”

First, analyse the contrast, tone and implied view of learning. Then write one evidence-based paragraph using claim → evidence → method → effect → relevance. Only after the paragraph exists may you request focused AI feedback.

Focused prompt: “Do not rewrite. Check whether my interpretation is supported by the quoted wording. Name one inference that needs stronger evidence and one sentence whose analytical link is unclear.”

Transfer the same method to visuals: describe before interpreting; analyse composition, proportion, scale, symbolism, perspective, captions or data choices only when the material supports them.

Speaking: Kommunikationsprüfung

For the 2027 communication exam, preparation time is 15 minutes. In the individual format, the exam lasts at least 15 minutes: about 5 minutes monologic speaking and about 10 minutes dialogic speaking. In the tandem format, the total time is at least 20 minutes: about 5 minutes monologic speaking per learner and about 10 minutes dialogue.

Practice task: Use the workflow diagram above as a visual stimulus. Speak for five minutes on how the workflow protects independent judgement. Then discuss which step is most important when evidence is incomplete.

Do the timed simulation without AI. Afterwards, you may use your own written outline for focused feedback. Recordings are optional; keep them private unless you have consciously chosen a lawful, school-approved tool and understand what happens to the data.

Writing

Practise three 2027-style moves: aspect-related summary, analysis, and either personal response or creative writing. Use only short, teacher-provided or openly licensed material; do not copy full required texts or unauthorised film material into the MOOC or an AI tool.

Mini practice: A fictional student magazine argues that faster feedback always improves learning. Write an aspect-related summary of its reasoning, analyse one rhetorical strategy, then write a short response that distinguishes speed from quality.

Use the full six-step workflow. Your AI request should target one dimension only, for example coherence, evidence, register or recurring grammar. Do not ask for a model essay.

Mediation

Mediation remains relevant to course competence and assessment in the qualification phase, even though the central 2027 LF written part described in the Facherlass consists of Listening and Writing.

Fictional German source: „Für Übungsaufgaben dürfen nur anonymisierte Beispieldaten verwendet werden. Private Aufnahmen bleiben auf dem eigenen Gerät und werden nicht ungefragt hochgeladen.“

Write a concise English note for an exchange student that conveys the relevant meaning, not the wording. Draft independently first. If AI feedback is allowed, ask only whether you omitted essential meaning; verify the answer against the German source yourself.

Feedback, Fehleranalyse und selektive Revision

Keep an error log that separates kinds of problems.

Category Diagnostic question Revision decision
Task fulfilment Did I answer the operator and all parts? Add or cut only what the task requires.
Evidence Does every major claim have relevant support? Replace weak evidence; never invent quotations.
Reasoning Is the link between evidence and interpretation explicit? Strengthen the explanation, not the decoration.
Language Is register precise and varied enough for LF? Correct recurring patterns and preserve your voice.
Sources Can I open and verify every factual reference? Remove unverifiable claims and fake citations.

Selective revision means you can explain why each important change improves task fulfilment, evidence, reasoning or language. If you cannot explain a change, do not accept it automatically.

Fachgerechte Differenzierung

Dimension Support Core Stretch for LF
Language Sentence stems and word families. Precise B2 vocabulary with dictionary support. More nuanced register, collocation and partly C1-level precision.
Length One paragraph or 60-second response. Full task section. Multi-source response with synthesis.
Pace Pause, replay and chunk. Timed section. Full timed simulation.
Analysis One device plus effect. Several relevant devices linked to purpose. Differentiated analysis with competing interpretations and precise evidence.
Help Full help ladder. English explanation plus monolingual dictionary. Minimal scaffolding; independent source triangulation.

The Leistungsfach is not just “more text”: it requires greater complexity, breadth, depth, differentiation and more independent connections between material and argument.

Abi-Check

Before an Abitur-style submission, answer these questions without AI:

  1. Have I followed the operator and addressed every task part?
  2. Have I separated summary, analysis and evaluation where required?
  3. Is each interpretation anchored in evidence?
  4. Have I checked every AI-originated factual claim or source?
  5. Does the final wording still sound like language I can explain and reproduce?
  6. Have I respected privacy, copyright and school rules?
  7. Could I defend my choices orally?

Transfer und Folgekurs

Create the same six-step trace for a listening answer, a non-literary analysis, a visual analysis, a communication-exam response and a mediation task. Compare where AI feedback helps and where it adds noise.

Offene Aufgaben

Leicht

  1. Workflow-Karte: Design a one-page visual of the six workflow steps using your own icons and one short English sentence per step.
  2. Prompt-Reparatur: Rewrite three bad prompts such as “Write my essay” into focused feedback prompts that preserve your authorship.
  3. Vocabulary Map: Build a word-family map for verify, revise, rely and independent; add one self-made exam sentence for each family.
  4. Private Speaking Reflection: Give a 60-second private oral explanation of why own analysis comes before AI; recording is optional and should stay on your own device.

Standard

  1. Source Audit: Take three factual claims from a practice response, trace each to an original or official source and document what changed after verification.
  2. Two-Draft Comparison: Write a paragraph, collect focused feedback, revise selectively and annotate exactly which changes you accepted or rejected and why.
  3. Listening Workflow: Use an openly accessible English audio, complete notes and a summary independently, then use only your summary for one round of focused feedback.
  4. Communication Mock: Simulate five minutes of monologic speaking plus a dialogue with a partner, then analyse your own task fulfilment, interaction and language.

Schwer

  1. Multi-Source Analysis: Connect a non-literary text with a visual or data display and write a differentiated analysis that weighs two plausible interpretations.
  2. Feedback Reliability Test: Give the same narrow feedback request to two permitted tools or two human peers, compare the advice and verify which suggestions are actually supported by the task and source.
  3. Abi Simulation: Run a timed mini-exam with separate Listening and Writing phases and no AI during the simulation; afterwards use the workflow to diagnose and revise.
  4. Workflow Evaluation: Design criteria for responsible AI feedback in LF English, test them on two different task types and defend where AI should deliberately not be used.

Lernkontrolle

  1. Transfer auf unbekanntes Material: Given a new non-literary text, plan how each workflow step would change from summary to analysis to personal response; justify the differences.
  2. Fehlerdiagnose: Compare two versions of a paragraph and decide which changes improve evidence, reasoning, language or task fulfilment and which merely make the wording more elaborate.
  3. Quellenkonflikt: Two reliable sources disagree about a factual detail. Explain how you would represent the uncertainty in an Abitur-style response without inventing certainty.
  4. Kommunikationsprüfung und KI: Explain why AI may be useful after a practice simulation but not as a substitute for spontaneous speaking performance; connect your answer to monologic and dialogic demands.
  5. Mediation-Transfer: Transform a short German school notice into an audience-appropriate English message and explain which information you omitted, retained or reformulated.
  6. Unabhängigkeitsnachweis: Reconstruct the development of one final paragraph from notes, draft, feedback, source check and revision, and show that you can defend every major choice without AI.

Lernnachweis

For a strong learning record, show:

  1. an independent analysis or planning sheet before AI use;
  2. an independent first draft or speaking outline;
  3. a focused feedback prompt and the resulting diagnostic feedback;
  4. a source-verification log for factual AI claims;
  5. a selective revision with reasons for accepted and rejected suggestions;
  6. a final independent checklist;
  7. a short reflection on privacy, copyright and when AI was deliberately not used;
  8. transfer of the workflow to at least two different Abitur task types.
