Watch first – no transcript. Stop after some job words. Say the words you know. Then watch again and repeat two words.
Einleitung
In this aiMOOC, you learn useful words for jobs. You meet different people and different workplaces. The profiles are fictional. A job is not “for men” or “for women”. People can choose jobs that fit their interests and skills.
Learning path: notice → understand → try → use → communicate → feedback → improve → use again.

Before you start – what do you know?
Look around you: school, street, bus, shop, home. Name three jobs in English.
Try: “I know teacher, ... and ...”
Hint: Think of people who teach, help, repair, cook, drive or sell.

Listen first. Your teacher or a partner reads the dialogue twice at slow to moderate speed. Two speakers only. Do not read the transcript yet.

Profile 1 – Maya
Maya is a firefighter. She works with a team. She helps people. She likes practical work and teamwork.
Profile 2 – Ben
Ben is a nurse. He works in a clinic. He helps patients and talks to families. He likes helping people.
Profile 3 – Noor
Noor is a programmer. They work with computers. They write and test code. They like solving problems.
Read once: Match each person with one job.
Read again: Find one activity for each person.
Hint: Do not translate every word. Look for repeated job words and action words.
Vocabulary in context
Use the same chunks again and again:

Pronunciation
Understandable English is the goal. You do not need to sound like a native speaker.
Listen → repeat → use in a sentence.
Try 1: Repeat one word slowly.
Try 2: Say the word in a short chunk: “a mechanic”, “a bus driver”.
Try 3: Say one full sentence: “A mechanic repairs cars.”

Work in pairs.

My fictional job profile
Write 4–5 short sentences. Do not use private data.
Writing frame:
My name is ______. I am a ______. I work ______. I ______. I like this job because ______.
Word bank: help, teach, repair, cook, drive, build, sell, write code, people, animals, cars, food, wood, customers.
Model:
My name is Leo. I am a carpenter. I work in a workshop. I work with wood. I like this job because I like making things.
Improve: Read your text again. Add one useful detail, not five new words.
AI note: If you use AI, check the level and every word. AI feedback may help you improve your own text, but it must not replace your text.
Mediation
Situation: A German notice says: “Tierarztpraxis sucht Hilfe für Samstag. Aufgaben: Tiere versorgen, Räume vorbereiten, im Team arbeiten.”
Your English-speaking partner asks what it means.
Task: Give the key information in 2–3 simple English sentences. Do not translate every word.
Start: “An animal clinic needs help on Saturday. The work is ...”
Hint: Key information only: place + time + activities.

Present simple for jobs
We use the present simple for regular activities.
I / you / we / they: “They work in a hospital.”
he / she / it: “She works in a hospital.” / “He repairs cars.”
Question: “What does a mechanic do?”
Answer: “A mechanic repairs cars.”
Can for skills: “A chef can cook.” / “A bus driver can drive safely.”
Try: Complete: “A teacher ___ students.” → teaches
Optional E-look ahead
Only look at this if your teacher wants an extra challenge.
Past perfect – controlled preview: “By the time the shop opened, the assistant had prepared the counter.”
You do not need this form for the G-level tasks in this course.
Mini-transfer
Choose a place near you: school, shop, bus stop, clinic, garage or restaurant.
Task: Think of one job there. Say:

Do not photograph or publish people without permission. Use drawings, objects or public/free media instead.

Profiles in this course are fictional. Do not use private social-media data.
Audio or video recordings are optional. Keep them private unless your teacher and the people in the recording agree to sharing. Do not upload recordings without permission. Do not send personal recordings or school data to external AI services without clear permission.
Use freely licensed media and check the licence. For this course, the job images and pronunciation audio come from Wikimedia Commons; the learning videos are embedded from YouTube.
