Einleitung

Mini-Beschreibung: In diesem aiMOOC lernst Du, einfache Vorschläge auf Englisch zu machen, zuzustimmen, höflich abzulehnen und eine Alternative vorzuschlagen. Du arbeitest mit kurzen Dialogen, Bildern, Videos und kleinen Sprechaufgaben. Das Niveau ist für Englisch als erste Fremdsprache, Klasse 6, M-Niveau, Baden-Württemberg angepasst.

Read the short dialogue.

Maya: It's sunny. Let's go to the park after lunch. Leo: Sounds good. Shall we take a ball? Maya: Good idea. Leo: How about inviting Sam too? Maya: Sorry, Sam can't come today because he is visiting his grandma. Leo: Okay. Why don't we ask Noor? Maya: Great idea. I'll text Noor.

Notice: The speakers do more than say „yes“ or „no“. They react, give a reason and keep the conversation going.

Small grammar, big communication

You do not need a long grammar rule. Use the phrase as one useful chunk.

Let's + base verb: Let's go. Why don't we + base verb: Why don't we meet at four? How about + verb-ing: How about playing tennis?

Accuracy focus: After Let's and Why don't we, use the base verb. After How about, use the -ing form.

Choose one situation:

2. Weekend: You want to plan a simple activity.
3. Class break: You want to choose a game.
4. Rainy day: Your first plan does not work.

Use this conversation shape:

A: Make a suggestion. B: Agree or say no politely. B: Give a short reason. A: Suggest an alternative. B: Ask one follow-up question. A: Finish the plan.

Challenge for M-Niveau: Connect two ideas with because or but.
