E6 G - Important words from the story
E6 G - Important words from the story
Mini description: Learn only the words you really need for the story. Use pictures, audio, short context and useful chunks. Try English first. Use German help only when you need it.

For you: English is your first foreign language. This course is for class 6, G level. The sentences are short. You do not need a perfect accent. You need to be understandable.
Important: This course does not give you a full vocabulary list for every chapter. Your class book is not named here. So the examples below are short, fictional practice scenes. Use the same learning steps with the important words from your real story.
Your learning path
Notice → understand → practise → use → feedback → use again
- Notice: See or hear the word.
- Understand: Use the picture and the sentence.
- Practise: Say the word and use a chunk.
- Use: Speak, read or write with the word.
- Feedback: Check if your message is clear.
- Use again: Use the word in a new sentence.
I can ...
After this course, you can say:
- I can understand a small set of important story words.
- I can use pictures and context to guess a word.
- I can use short chunks such as decide to or hide behind.
- I can say important words clearly enough to be understood.
- I can use the words in a short spoken or written story.
- I can ask for help when I do not understand a word.
Short media start
Look at the picture. Do not translate every word.
Try English first: What do students do with a story?
Hint: Read? Listen? Talk? Write?
German help: Was machen Schülerinnen und Schüler mit einer Geschichte?
Example: They read the story. They talk about it.
Solution idea: We read, listen, talk and write. We do not need every word. We need the important words.
Media task: Watch only a short part. Look at the pictures and the words on screen. Which words can you understand from context? You do not need to understand the whole story.
What you already know
Quick check. No marks.
- Can you understand afraid from a face or situation?
- Can you understand whisper when someone speaks very quietly?
- Can you understand hide when a person goes behind something?
- Can you understand safe when danger is over?
- Can you make one short sentence with decide to?
If this is difficult, that is okay. Start with the pictures and audio below.

Words in context
Here is a short fictional story chunk. The names and events are invented for practice.
Story chunk 1
Mia and Ben are near the school library. They hear a strange noise. Mia is afraid. Ben says, “Wait here.” Then he walks to the door.

Reading strategy
Do not translate the whole text.
Step 1: Read the whole short paragraph.
Step 2: Circle only the words that stop your understanding.
Step 3: Look for context.
Step 4: Use a picture, a word bank or German help.
Step 5: Read again.
Good question: “What do I need to understand the action?”
Speaking
Use the sentence starters.
Word bank: afraid – strange – suddenly – whisper – decide – follow – hide – safe – return
Sentence starters:
- At first, ...
- Then, ...
- Suddenly, ...
- Mia feels ...
- Ben decides to ...
- They hide ...
- In the end, ...
Speaking task: Tell the four story chunks in 4–6 short sentences.
Hint: Use only three or four new words.
German help: Erzähle die Mini-Geschichte in 4–6 kurzen Sätzen. Nutze nur wenige neue Wörter.
Example: At first, Mia hears a strange noise. She is afraid. Ben decides to look inside. Mia follows him. They hide behind a shelf. In the end, they feel safe.
Short writing output
Write a mini story with 5–7 sentences.
Use at least four chunks:
- a strange noise
- be afraid of
- decide to
- hide behind
- feel safe
- return home
Writing frame:
At first, ________. Then, ________. Suddenly, ________. I / He / She / They decide to ________. In the end, ________.
Hint: Keep the sentences short.
German help: Schreibe lieber klare kurze Sätze als lange schwierige Sätze.
Self-check: Can another person understand what happened?
Mediation
A German-speaking classmate asks:
„Was bedeutet decide to? Und wie kann ich es in der Geschichte benutzen?“
Try to help in simple English first.
Hint: Use an example.
German help: Erkläre nicht jedes Grammatikdetail. Zeige die Bedeutung mit einem einfachen Beispielsatz.
Example: “Decide to” means you choose what you want to do. Example: “They decide to go home.”
Feedback
After speaking or writing, check only three things:
- Meaning: Is the message clear?
- Word use: Did you use the chunk correctly?
- Key form: Did you write a short clear sentence?
Do not correct every small mistake.
Peer feedback starter:
- I understand ...
- One useful word is ...
- Please say or write this part again: ...
Use again
Change one thing in the mini story.
Choose one:
- The noise is not in the library. It is outside.
- Mia is not afraid. Ben is afraid.
- They do not hide behind a shelf. They hide behind a door.
- They do not return to the classroom. They return home.
Tell or write the new version.
Safe media use
Use only media your teacher allows.
- Recordings are voluntary.
- Keep recordings private unless your teacher gives a safe school option.
- Do not upload your voice, photo or school data without permission.
- Do not enter personal data into external AI tools.
- If you use AI for an idea, check it and write the final sentence yourself.
- Use fictional names and fictional details for practice.
