E5 E - Create an English poster
Einleitung
Mini-Beschreibung: Create a simple English poster about a topic you know. Use a clear title, one or two pictures and very short English texts.
In diesem aiMOOC lernst Du Schritt für Schritt: sehen → hören → verstehen → nachsprechen → verwenden → Feedback → erneut verwenden.

Look at the poster. What can you see? What is easy to read?
Deine Lernziele
Nach diesem Kurs kannst Du:
- plan a poster with a clear title.
- write short English sentences for your poster.
- choose pictures and colours that fit your topic.
- present your poster in a few simple sentences.
Vorwissen-Check
Answer in English if you can. Deutsche Hilfe ist erlaubt.
- What is your favourite colour?
- What pictures do you like?
- What topic do you know well?
Help: My favourite colour is ... / I like ... / I know a lot about ...
See: What makes a good poster?
A good poster is easy to understand.
It usually has:
- a big title
- a clear picture
- short text
- colours that help you see important parts

Look and think: Which colours are easy to see? Which colours would you use for your poster?
New words
| English | Deutsch |
|---|---|
| poster | Plakat |
| title | Überschrift |
| picture | Bild |
| colour | Farbe |
| word | Wort |
| sentence | Satz |
| big | groß |
| short | kurz |
Say the words aloud. Sprich sie langsam und deutlich nach. Verständlichkeit ist wichtiger als ein perfekter Akzent.
Hear and repeat
Watch a short part of the video. Listen for school words you already know. Pause and repeat useful words.
Listen again. You do not need to understand every word.
Try these chunks:
This is my poster.
My topic is ...
This picture shows ...
I like ...
It is ...
It can ...
School tools for your poster

Say what you can see:
a pencil – a pen – paper – scissors – glue – coloured pencils
Mini-dialogue:
A: What do you need?
B: I need paper and coloured pencils.
A: What is your topic?
B: My topic is animals.
Understand: Poster parts
A poster is not a long text. It gives information quickly.

Look for:
- a title
- pictures
- short information
- clear sections
Quick check: Is a long paragraph good for a simple poster? No. Short text is easier to read.
Example: My favourite animal

MY FAVOURITE ANIMAL
PANDA
It is black and white.
It is a big animal.
It can climb.
It likes bamboo.
I like pandas.
Notice: The title is big. The sentences are short. The picture matches the text.
Grammar in context
Use these easy sentence starters:
- It is ... → It is black and white.
- It has ... → It has black ears.
- It can ... → It can climb.
- I like ... → I like pandas.
Remember: Start a sentence with a capital letter. End it with a full stop.
Watch: How to make a poster
This video gives ideas for making a poster. Some English is more difficult. Watch a short part, pause often and focus on the pictures and the main steps.
Your task while watching: Find the title, short text and pictures.
Plan your poster
Choose a familiar topic.
Ideas:
- my favourite animal
- my hobby
- my school bag
- my favourite food
- my dream room
- my favourite season
Use this simple plan:
| Poster part | Your idea |
|---|---|
| Title | My ... |
| Picture | One or two clear pictures |
| Sentence 1 | It is ... |
| Sentence 2 | It has ... / It can ... |
| Sentence 3 | I like ... |
Example dialogue before writing
A: What is your poster about?
B: It is about my favourite animal.
A: What picture do you want?
B: A panda.
A: What can you write?
B: It is black and white. It can climb.
Now say your own mini-dialogue with a partner.
Make your poster
Step 1: Write a big title.
Step 2: Add one or two suitable pictures.
Step 3: Write three to five short English sentences.
Step 4: Check spelling, capital letters and full stops.
Step 5: Read your poster aloud.

Design tip: Keep it clear. Do not put too much text on the page.
Feedback loop
Ask a partner:
Can you read the title?
Do the pictures fit?
Are the sentences short and clear?
Is there one thing I can improve?
Then change one part of your poster and read it again.
Safe and fair work
Use your own ideas and words. If you use a digital tool or an AI helper, check its suggestions and keep your own English production.
Use only pictures that you are allowed to use, for example suitable files from Wikimedia Commons.
Use fictional names and data in examples. Audio or video recordings are voluntary and should stay private unless you and your teacher decide otherwise. Do not upload personal recordings or private data to external services without permission.
Mini-Wiederholung
Say the four poster rules:
Big title.
Clear picture.
Short text.
Good colours.
Now use one complete sentence:
My poster is about ...
I-can-Check
| I can ... | Yes | Almost |
|---|---|---|
| choose a clear title | □ | □ |
| write three short English sentences | □ | □ |
| use a picture that fits | □ | □ |
| present my poster in English | □ | □ |
Next step: If you tick “Almost”, practise that part once more.
