Einleitung

Your task: Give a short opinion about a story, a character or your favourite scene. Give at least one reason.

Mini goal: I think ... because ...

Look at the picture. What can a story make you feel: happy, excited, surprised, sad or curious?

Try English first. Say one sentence.

Hint: Start with I think ... or For me ...

Answer in English if you can.

  1. What is a character?

  4. Name one word for a positive feeling and one word for a negative feeling.

Hint: character = a person in a story; scene = one part of a story.

Mini-story: The lost wallet

Read the story once. Do not stop at every unknown word.

On Friday, Mia found a small wallet near the school gate. There was some money inside and a bus card with the name Leo Brown. Mia wanted to take the wallet to the school office. Her friend Sam said, “Maybe Leo is still here. Let’s look for him first.” They waited near the gate. After a few minutes, they saw a worried boy looking under a bench. Mia asked his name. It was Leo. She gave him the wallet. Leo smiled and thanked her. Sam said, “Good idea, Mia.” Mia missed her bus, but she felt happy. For her, helping Leo was more important than getting home quickly.

The names and events in this story are fictional.

Grammar for communication

Use because to connect your opinion and your reason.

Opinion + because + reason

I like Mia because she helps Leo.

My favourite scene is the ending because Mia feels happy.

Do not add difficult grammar just to sound advanced. Clear English is the goal.


Pronunciation: Make your opinion clear

Say the important words a little more clearly:

I THINK Mia is KIND because she helps Leo.

My FAVOURITE scene is the ENDING.

Practise in three steps:

  1. Read slowly.
  2. Read naturally.
  3. Say it without reading.

Recording is optional. If you record yourself, keep the recording private unless you actively choose to share it. Do not upload personal recordings without a clear reason and permission.

Work with a partner or speak to yourself.

Task: Give your opinion in 3–5 sentences.

You can talk about:

  1. the whole story
  2. Mia
  3. Sam
  4. Leo
  5. your favourite scene

Try English first.

Hint: opinion → reason → story detail → short ending

Student A gives an opinion. Student B reacts and asks one question.

A: I think ... because ...

Then change roles.

Short writing output

Write 50–70 words about the story.

Include:

  1. your opinion
  2. one or two reasons
  3. one character or scene
  4. a short final sentence

Less support: Try to write first without copying the model.

Hint: I think ... / For me ... / because ... / My favourite ... / In the end ...

Example: I think the story is simple but interesting. I like Mia because she helps another student. My favourite scene is when Leo gets his wallet back. It is a good scene because the problem is solved. For me, Mia makes the right choice.


Optional mediation

A German-speaking friend asks what the story is about.

Explain the main idea in 2–3 German sentences. Do not translate every sentence. Keep the important information only.

Then say your own opinion in English.

Give friendly feedback to a partner.

Star 1: I understand your opinion.

Next step: Add one story detail. or Speak a little more clearly.

Important: Verständlichkeit ist wichtiger als Akzentfreiheit. Different accents are normal.

  2. add a story detail
  3. use a better linking word
  4. speak more clearly


Safe and smart use of digital tools

  1. Use fictional names and data in class examples.
  2. Recordings are voluntary and should stay private unless you choose otherwise.
  3. Do not upload personal texts, voices or pictures to external AI tools without permission.
  4. If an AI tool suggests English, check the meaning and write the final version in your own words.
  5. Clear, honest language is more important than complicated language.
