Mini-Beschreibung: Führe mit KI einen kurzen Übungsdialog zu vertrauten E6-Themen. Fordere ausdrücklich easy English, short sentences and known vocabulary. Sprich möglichst viel selbst. Prüfe KI-Antworten und formuliere mit eigenen Worten.

Level: English as a first foreign language, Class 6, M level, Baden-Württemberg.

Einleitung

In this mini-course, you practise a short English conversation. Your topic can be school, free time, food or daily routines. You can work with a school-approved AI tool or with a partner who plays the AI role.

Important: Use fictional data. Do not share your real address, school name, phone number, photos or private recordings. Do not upload files unless your teacher asks you to. Voice recording is optional and should stay private.

AI rule: AI can make mistakes. Check its answers. Keep useful ideas, but say things in your own words.

Watch and listen: What is the topic? Which two short phrases can you understand? Do not try to understand every word.

If one question is difficult, that is fine. You will practise it now.

Read this short model dialogue.

AI: Hi! What do you like doing after school? Sam: I like playing basketball and listening to music. AI: Nice! How often do you play basketball? Sam: I play twice a week. How about you? AI: I do not play sports, but I can talk about them. What do you like about basketball? Sam: I like playing with my friends because it is fun. AI: That sounds good. Do you play at school too? Sam: Sometimes. Can you ask me another easy question?

Notice: The learner does not only answer. Sam also asks back, gives a reason and keeps the conversation going.

Listen to a short everyday dialogue.

First listen: Where are the speakers?

Second listen: Find one polite question and one polite answer.

Try English first.

Hint: Listen for “May I ...?” and “I’d like ...”.

German help

Die Personen bestellen Essen. Höre auf eine höfliche Frage und eine höfliche Antwort.

Example: “I’d like a pizza, please.”

Solution: A possible polite question is “May I take your order?”

Vocabulary in context

Do not learn single words only. Learn short chunks.

school: My favourite subject is ...
free time: I like ... because ...
food: I’d like ..., please.
daily routine: I usually ... after school.
conversation help: Can you say that again, please?

Listen for daily-routine phrases you already know. Choose only three useful phrases for your own conversation.

Language focus: useful, not complicated

Use language you already know.

Questions: What do you like? / Do you like music? / What is your favourite subject?

Connected answers: I like art because it is creative. I like English, and I like music too.

Follow-up: Really? Why? How about you?

Accuracy focus: Check the word order in questions. Use I with a capital letter in writing. Use one clear sentence before you add another one.

Optional only if you already know it: You can ask “What did you do yesterday?” Do not mix in new tense systems just for this task.

Practise

The help ladder

Use this order when you get stuck:

Try English first: Say what you can.
Hint: Ask for one small clue.
German help: Use short German support only if needed.
Example: Look at one model sentence.
Solution: Use a complete model only at the end, then change it into your own sentence.

Example problem: You want to say why you like a hobby.

Try English first: “I like ... because ...”

Hint: Add one reason word such as fun, exciting or relaxing.

German help

Sage zuerst, was du magst. Ergänze dann mit because einen einfachen Grund.

Example: “I like cycling because it is fun.”

Solution model: “I like cycling because it is fun, and I often go with my friend.”

Pronunciation: be easy to understand

The goal is understandable English, not an accent-free voice.

Say these sentences slowly, then at normal speed:

Can you say that again, please?
What do you like doing after school?
I like science because it is interesting.
How about you?

Make questions sound like questions. Stress the important words. Do not worry about sounding exactly like a native speaker.

Private option: You may record yourself only if you want to. Keep the recording private and delete it after practice if you do not need it.

Short role-play before AI

Work with a partner.

Speaker A: Ask about school. Speaker B: Answer in two connected sentences and ask back.

Then change roles.

Goal: 4–6 turns without reading every word.

Use

Use this only in a school-approved AI tool. If no approved AI tool is available, give the same instructions to your partner.

You are my English practice partner.

I am in class 6.

Use easy English, short sentences and known vocabulary.

Ask one question at a time.

Use a familiar topic: school, free time, food or daily routines.

Let me answer first.

If I do not understand, follow this order: hint → short German help → example → solution.

Do not ask for personal data.

After 6–8 turns, stop and give short feedback.

Start with: “Hi! Let’s talk about free time. What do you like doing after school?”

Conversation mission

Have a conversation with 6–8 turns.

During the talk, try to use:

one connected answer with and or because
one follow-up question
one reaction such as “Really?” or “That sounds fun.”
one help phrase if you need it

Do not copy the AI answer as your own. Read it, think, then make your own sentence.

Reading: check the chat

Read this fictional chat.

AI: What is your favourite school day? Mia: I like Thursday because we have art and English. AI: What do you like about art? Mia: I like drawing, and I can work with colours. AI: Nice. Do you draw at home too? Mia: Yes, sometimes. What do you like talking about? AI: I can talk about many school topics. Mia: Great. Can you ask me one more easy question?

Reading task: Find one reason, one connected sentence and one follow-up question.

Short writing output

Write 4–6 sentences after your conversation.

Model:

Hi Sam,

I practised English today.

We talked about school and free time.

I used “How about you?” in my conversation.

One difficult word was “usually”.

Next time I want to ask more follow-up questions.

Now write your own short text. Use fictional names.

Mini language mediation

A fictional German note says:

„Treffpunkt: 15 Uhr vor der Sporthalle. Bring bitte eine Wasserflasche mit.“

Tell an English-speaking partner the important information in simple English.

Try English first.

Hint: You need the time, the place and one thing to bring.

German help

Übertrage nur die wichtigen Informationen sinngemäß. Du musst nicht Wort für Wort übersetzen.

Example: “We meet at 3 pm ...”

Solution: “We meet at 3 pm in front of the sports hall. Please bring a bottle of water.”

Feedback

Ask for small feedback, not a full correction of everything.

Use:

Tell me one thing I did well.

Give me one next step.

Correct only one or two important mistakes.

Use easy English.

Then check the feedback. AI can be wrong. Compare it with your class notes, a dictionary or your teacher’s feedback.

Good feedback helps you speak again. It does not speak for you.

Use again

Do a second short round.

Change one thing:

choose a new topic
use one better sentence from the feedback
ask one extra follow-up question

Goal: Your second conversation should be a little clearer or more connected than the first one.

Lernkontrolle

Conversation transfer: You prepared a school dialogue, but your partner changes the topic to free time. Continue for four turns without starting again.
Repair strategy: Your partner uses one unknown word. Show how you keep the conversation going with a clarification phrase instead of switching fully to German.
Feedback decision: An AI suggests a difficult sentence that you would never normally use. Explain how you can simplify it and still keep the meaning.
Privacy decision: A tool asks for your real school name before practice. Explain what you should do and suggest a safe alternative.
Speaking improvement: Compare a one-word answer with a connected two-sentence answer. Explain why the second version supports a real conversation better.
Mediation transfer: Read a short fictional German message and pass only the important information to an English-speaking partner.
