Mini-Beschreibung: Du verstehst kurze fiktive Probleme und gibst einfache, freundliche Vorschläge auf Englisch. Du nutzt dafür wenige feste Chunks wie You should ..., Maybe you can ... und Why don't you ...?

Look – think – say. What can friends do when someone has a problem?

  1. Try in English first: I can help. / You should ...
  2. Hint: Nutze zuerst Wörter, die Du schon kennst.
  3. Deutsch-Hilfe erst danach: Du sollst nicht jedes Wort übersetzen. Wichtig ist eine hilfreiche Reaktion.

Understand: Problems and helpful reactions

A good reply often has two parts:

1. Kind reaction: I'm sorry to hear that.

2. Simple advice: You should talk to your teacher.

Use short advice. One good idea is enough.

  2. Listen for should and shouldn't.
  3. Show with your fingers: How many advice sentences do you notice?

Hint: You do not need every word.

Say:

  1. You should ask.
  2. You should talk.
  3. You should rest.

Sprich verständlich und ruhig. Dein Ziel ist Verständlichkeit, nicht ein bestimmter Akzent.

Functional grammar

No long grammar rule. Use the chunk.

You should + verb.

You shouldn't + verb.

Examples:

Remember: should ask, not should to ask.

Mia: Hi Sam. I'm worried. I have a test tomorrow.

Write 3–5 connected sentences. Keep your own text. A tool may give feedback only if your teacher allows it; check that the language stays simple and do not let a tool replace your text.
