Hint: Think of school words.
German help: Schulsachen = school things.
Example: “I can see a pencil.”
Solution check: Possible words are pencil, pen, notebook, scissors, glue and school bag.
Watch only a short part first: about 00:43–02:58.

Understand: Words in context
Read the short text.
Mia is at school. She has a pencil and a book. At lunch she eats an apple. After school she rides her bike. She feels happy.
Answer in short English sentences.
- Where is Mia?
- What school things has she got?
- What does she eat?
- What does she do after school?
- How does she feel?
Hint: Use words from the text.
German help: Antworte zuerst mit einzelnen Schlüsselwörtern, dann mit kurzen Sätzen.
Audio input: Listen twice
A partner or teacher reads this text slowly two times:
“Hi, I’m Ben. Tomorrow I travel by train. I have my ticket and my small suitcase. I feel excited. I take water and a sandwich. On the train, I read my book.”
First listening: Tick the fields you hear.
travel – school – feelings – food – free time
Second listening: Write one word for each field you hear.
Hint: Do not write every sentence. Listen for key words.
German help: Höre auf Schlüsselwörter.
Solution: travel: train, ticket, suitcase; feelings: excited; food: water, sandwich; free time: read, book.
Pronunciation: Clear is the goal
Say the words slowly, then in a sentence:
ticket – suitcase – classroom – worried – sandwich – football
Clap the word parts where it helps:
suit-case – class-room – sand-wich – foot-ball
Remember: Verständlichkeit ist wichtiger als Akzentfreiheit.
Partner feedback: “I understood …” / “Please say … again.”
Optional: Record your voice only on your own device. Keep it private. Do not upload it.
Speaking: Pick two fields
Choose two word fields. Speak for about 20 seconds.
Sentence starters:
- “In the field … I know …”
- “I often use …”
- “I like …”
- “I feel … when …”
- “For school I need …”
Hint: Use three words from the word bank.
German help: Drei passende Wörter reichen. Kurze Sätze sind gut.
Reading: Five mini messages
A: “My train leaves at nine. I have my ticket.”
B: “I need my ruler and my maths book.”
C: “I am tired, but I am not sad.”
D: “I would like water and an apple.”
E: “After school I meet friends and ride my bike.”
Match:
- travel
- school
- feelings
- food
- free time
Solution: A travel; B school; C feelings; D food; E free time.
Writing: My useful word field
Choose one field and write 4–5 short sentences.
Word bank: I like … / I need … / I have … / I feel … / I often … / My favourite … is …
Example: “My field is free time. I like football. I often read. I meet friends after school. My favourite activity is riding my bike.”
German help: Nutze die Satzstarter. Schreibe selbst. Kopiere keine KI-Antwort.
Mediation: Help a friend
Your German-speaking friend asks: “Was brauche ich für die Zugfahrt?”
Use these English words: ticket – suitcase – water – train
Say a short answer in German. Keep the important English words.
Example: “Du brauchst dein ticket und deinen suitcase. Nimm auch water mit. Dann kannst du zum train gehen.”
Feedback and use again
Check your work.
- Did I use the right word field?
- Can another person understand my sentence?
- Did I use a useful sentence starter?
- Can I say the word again without reading?
- Can I use the word in a new sentence?
Then choose three words you found difficult. Use them again in three new sentences.
