Plan with a mind map

Choose one easy topic: My weekend, My hobby or My favourite day.

Write your topic in the middle. Add four branches:

1. Who?
2. Where?
3. What happens?
4. How do I feel?

Example mind map: My Saturday

Hilfe: Stichwörter reichen. Noch keine langen Sätze.

Write your draft

Now write. Use your mind map.

Example:

My Saturday is fun. First, I play football with Mia in the park. Then, I eat lunch at home. In the afternoon, I read a comic. Finally, I play with my dog. I like Saturdays because I have time for my hobbies.

Notice: The sentences are short, but they are connected with first, then, in the afternoon, finally and because.

Speak before you write

Say three sentences first:

My text is about …

First, I …

Then, I …

Now write them. Add more details.

Partner feedback: Your partner says one helpful sentence: I understand … or Please make this sentence clearer.

Check your content

Ask:

1. Is my topic clear?
2. Do my sentences fit the topic?
3. Is the order easy to follow?
4. Did I add one useful detail?

Direct feedback: If one answer is no, change one sentence now.

Check grammar

Check grammar in your real text.

Simple present: I play football. Mia plays football.

Be: I am happy. My Saturday is fun.

Important:

1. Write I with a capital letter.
2. Use a full stop at the end.
3. Check he/she + s when you use the simple present.
4. Use and, but or because to connect ideas.

Hilfe: Prüfe zuerst nur diese wenigen Grammatikpunkte. Nicht alles gleichzeitig.

Check spelling

Read your text slowly.

Try this:

1. Point to every word.
2. Circle a word if you are not sure.
3. Check the word in your book, word list or dictionary.
4. Correct it yourself.

Important: A spell checker can help, but it can be wrong. You decide if the suggestion fits your sentence.

Read, improve, read again

Use the loop:

see → hear → understand → say → use → feedback → use again

Read your text aloud. If a sentence sounds strange, stop and check it.

Clarity is more important than a perfect accent.
