Round 1 – listen: Which food words can you hear?

Round 2 – repeat: Pause after a short phrase and repeat it.

Round 3 – use: Say your own sentence: “I’ve got … in my lunchbox.”

Feedback: If your sentence has “I’ve got” + a food word, it works. Say it again a little more smoothly. Clear speech is more important than a perfect accent.

Grammar in action

Use there is for one thing: “There is an apple.”

Use there are for more than one thing: “There are some carrots.”

Use because to give a simple reason: “I chose a sandwich because I like it.”

Now change one word and make a new sentence.

Mia: What have you got in your lunchbox?

Ben: I’ve got a sandwich, an apple and water.

Mia: Why did you choose the apple?

Ben: I chose it because I like apples. What have you got?

Mia: I’ve got carrots and a banana.

Read the dialogue twice. Then change two foods and speak again.

Example: “In my lunchbox, I’ve got a sandwich, an apple, some carrots and water. I chose the apple because I like fruit. I chose water because it is easy to drink at school.”

This is only a language example. Your fictional lunchbox can be different.

Your turn: Build a fictional lunchbox

Choose four or five items. Draw them or write the words. Then speak or write four connected sentences.

Starter: “In my lunchbox, I’ve got … . There is … . There are … . I chose … because … .”

Challenge: Add one polite question: “Would you like …?”

Privacy: A recording is optional. Keep it private unless you and your teacher decide otherwise. Do not upload recordings without permission. Do not send personal data to external AI tools. If you use an AI language hint, check it and keep your own wording.
