Mechanisms of aging
Separate causal mechanisms from measurable markers.
A mechanism must explain more than a correlation with chronological age. Build separate causal models for senescence, proteostasis, metabolism, inflammation and tissue organisation.
Research task: specify necessary and sufficient conditions for each candidate. Name at least one finding that would falsify the model. Treat structural repair, functional recovery and changes in a biological clock as distinct endpoints.
