English: Irene Cara in a 1987 publicity photo for Elektra Records promoting her final major studio album Carasmatic. Elektra let Cara go after the album failed to meet commercial and critical objectives. According to Cara, she was being silently blacklisted from the music industry after putting (and eventually winning) a lawsuit against her former record label Network Records over unpaid royalties.
