E7 G - Write about an experience
Einleitung
E7 G - Write about an experience
In diesem aiMOOC lernst Du, einen kurzen, klaren Text über ein reales oder erfundenes Erlebnis zu schreiben. Du nutzt vor allem das Simple Past und einfache time connectors wie first, then, after that und finally. Du arbeitest nach dem Prinzip: notice → understand → try → use → communicate → feedback → improve → use again.
Mini goal: Write about one experience in about 6–8 connected sentences.

Look first. What can you see? Where are the people? What may have happened before or after the picture?
Need help? Nutze zuerst einzelne englische Wörter. Erst wenn nötig: people – trip – outside – together – before – after.
I can
- I can write 6–8 connected sentences about an experience.
- I can use the Simple Past for finished actions.
- I can use first, then, after that, suddenly, finally.
- I can check verbs, order and meaning in my own text.
- I can give simple feedback to a partner.
Vorwissen aktivieren
Quick try – English first.
Complete in your head:
Yesterday I ___ to the park. I ___ my friend. We ___ football.
Word bank: went – met – played
Hint: Zwei Verben sind unregelmäßig. Ein Verb bekommt -ed.
Media start: What happened?
Watch the short clip once.
- Say three words you can use for the scene.
- Make one Simple Past sentence.
- Add one time connector.
Model: First, the child rode the bike.

Mini transfer: Imagine these bikes are part of your story. Where did you go? Who was with you?
Notice: A short model text
A rainy afternoon
Last Saturday, Mia and Ben rode their bikes to the park. First, they met near the bridge. Then they bought two sandwiches. Suddenly, it started to rain. They ran to a small café. After that, they played a card game and laughed a lot. Finally, the rain stopped, so they rode home. It was a funny afternoon.

Notice:
- Which words show the order?
- Find four verbs in the Simple Past.
- Which sentence tells you how the experience felt?
Hint: Look for first, then, after that and finally.
Listening and Viewing
First try: Watch the first part without subtitles.
- What is the grammar topic?
- Listen for one regular past verb.
- Listen for one irregular past verb.
Second try: Watch again with subtitles. Pause when you need time.
After your first listening attempt: Use the video subtitles or transcript as support. Do not try to understand every word. Focus on the examples.
Core idea: We use the Simple Past for actions and situations that happened and finished in the past.
Reading
Read the model text again.
Choose the best short summary:
Mia and Ben had a rainy but funny afternoon in the park.
Now find the order:
- meeting
- buying food
- rain
- café
- going home
Reading strategy: First find the time connectors. They help you see the order quickly.

Functional grammar: Simple Past
Use the Simple Past for finished actions in the past.
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| regular verb | play → played |
| irregular verb | go → went |
| negative | We did not stay long. |
| question | Did you enjoy the day? |
Important: After did or did not, use the base form: Did you go? – not Did you went?
For this course, the main focus is positive past sentences in a clear order.
Controlled E-outlook: Past Perfect
This is not a core G-level goal. Use it only as an optional look ahead:
When we arrived, the rain had already started.
The action with had started happened earlier. You do not need the Past Perfect for your main text.
Pronunciation
In regular verbs, the written ending is often -ed, but it does not always sound the same.
Use the BBC video above around the pronunciation part and listen for different -ed endings.
Say slowly, then naturally:
- played
- watched
- wanted
Goal: Be understandable. You do not need to sound like a native speaker.
Speaking
Work with a partner or speak quietly to yourself.
Question frame:
- Where did you go?
- Who was with you?
- What happened first?
- What happened next?
- Was there a surprise?
- How did you feel?
Sentence starters:
Last ... I ...
First, ...
