Grammar for communication

Use the simple past for a finished past day.

Easy pattern: Yesterday + person + past verb + extra information.

Yesterday I played football.
Then I watched TV.
In the evening I read a book.

Many verbs end in -ed: played, watched, helped, visited.

Some common verbs are different: go → went, eat → ate, have → had.

Important for this course: First write clear positive sentences. If you use a question, say: Did you play football? After did, use the basic verb: play.
