E6 G - Talk about plans
E6 G - Talk about plans
Mini-Beschreibung: Talk about your plans in simple English. Say what you or a fictional person is going to do. Use going to and easy time expressions.

Your learning path: Notice → understand → practise → use → feedback → use again.
Language rule: Try English first. If you need help, use: Hint → German help → example → solution.
Einleitung
In this aiMOOC you talk about future plans. You use short sentences.
Example: I am going to play football on Saturday.
You do not need difficult grammar words. You need three things:
- am / is / are
- going to + verb
- a time expression, for example tomorrow or next weekend
Important: Clear English is more important than a perfect accent. Your own recordings are optional and private. Do not upload personal recordings, names, photos or other private data. If you use AI for a text, check it and write the final version in your own words.
I can ...
After this course, you can say:

A short model dialogue

- You are going to play.
- He / She is going to play.

The verb after going to stays simple: play, read, meet, ride, watch, visit.
Understand
Going to for plans
Use going to when you talk about a plan you already have.
I am going to read tonight.
She is going to meet her friend tomorrow.
We are going to play football on Saturday.
For a negative plan, add not:
I am not going to stay at home.
For a question, start with am, is or are:
Are you going to play football?
Is Sam going to read tonight?
German help: Für einen Plan benutzt du eine Form von be + going to + Grundform des Verbs.
Time expressions

Use easy time expressions:
- today – heute
- tonight – heute Abend
- tomorrow – morgen
- on Saturday – am Samstag
- this weekend – dieses Wochenende

Listening practice
Watch this short lesson. Focus on positive sentences, negative sentences and questions with be going to.
After the video, say three mini-lines:
Plan: I am going to ...
No plan: I am not going to ...
Question: Are you going to ...?
Pronunciation: short and clear
Say these chunks slowly first:
I’m going to ...
She’s going to ...
We’re going to ...
Are you going to ...?
You do not need to sound like a native speaker. Speak clearly. Keep the important words easy to hear.
Main goal: The listener understands your plan.
Reading: Leo's weekend
Leo is 12. These are fictional details.
On Saturday, Leo is going to ride his bike. In the afternoon, he is going to meet his friend Sam. They are going to play football. In the evening, Leo is going to watch a film with his family. On Sunday, he is going to do his homework and read a book.
Try English first: What is Leo going to do on Saturday afternoon?
Hint: Find afternoon.
German help: Suche im Text nach „afternoon“.
Example: He is going to ...
Solution: He is going to meet Sam and play football.
Speaking: My three plans
Choose three time expressions and three activities.
Sentence starters:
Today, I am going to ...
Tomorrow, I am going to ...
Next weekend, I am going to ...
Partner question: What are you going to do ...?
Partner answer: I am going to ...
You can speak to a partner or practise quietly. A recording is optional. Keep recordings private.
Writing: A short plan message
Write 3–4 sentences.
Starter:
Hi Alex,
Tomorrow, I am going to ...
On Saturday, I am going to ...
Next weekend, I am going to ...
Bye!
Check:
- Did you use am / is / are?
- Did you write going to?
- Is the next verb in its simple form?
- Did you add a time expression?
Sprachmittlung: Help a friend
Your German-speaking friend asks:
„Was hat Mia am Samstag vor?“
Information in English:
Mia is going to meet Ben at 11 o’clock. Then they are going to ride their bikes. In the afternoon, Mia is going to visit her grandma.
Answer in simple German. Give only the important information. Do not translate every word.
Possible solution: Mia trifft Ben um 11 Uhr. Danach fahren sie Fahrrad. Am Nachmittag besucht Mia ihre Oma.
Feedback and use again
Three error targets
Focus on only three things.
- be: I am / he is / we are
- going to + base verb: going to play, not going to plays
- time expression: tomorrow, on Saturday, next week
Feedback example:
You say: She are going to play football.
Hint: Look at she.
German help: Bei she brauchst du is.
Better sentence: She is going to play football.
Now use it again: She is going to read tomorrow.
Repeat it with a new plan
Change one part of a sentence.
Model: I am going to play football on Saturday.
Change the activity:
I am going to read a book on Saturday.
Change the time:
I am going to read a book tomorrow.
Change the person:
Sam is going to read a book tomorrow.

- I can correct am / is / are with help.
If one point is not safe yet, repeat the picture practice and the model dialogue.
