English: The domestic cat (Felis catus), also known as the house cat, is a small carnivorous mammal that has been domesticated. It is the only species within the Felidae family that has been domesticated. Cats are commonly kept as pets or farm animals but also live independently as feral creatures, often avoiding human interaction. Valued by people for their companionship and their ability to control pests, they are skilled at hunting vermin. With retractable claws designed for capturing small prey like mice and rats, they possess a strong, agile body, quick reflexes, and sharp teeth. Cats are known for their excellent night vision and keen sense of smell. While they are social animals, they hunt alone and are most active during dawn and dusk.
