ABI LF - 15 Minuten Vorbereitung effektiv nutzen
Einleitung
Mini-Beschreibung: Build a reliable 15-minute preparation routine for the English Leistungsfach: task analysis → thesis → key points → evidence → examples → useful phrases → dialogue options. You train under realistic time pressure, use the permitted dictionary strategically and prepare ideas rather than a memorised script.

English first: Your goal is not to write a mini-essay in 15 minutes. Your goal is to create a flexible speaking map that lets you analyse, argue, respond and adapt.
Preparation formula: TASK → THESIS → 3 POINTS → EVIDENCE → EXAMPLES → PHRASES → DIALOGUE OPTIONS
Viewing focus: This Cambridge video uses a different exam format from the Baden-Württemberg Abitur. Do not copy its timings. Watch it for useful expressions, clear structure and interaction strategies.
Aktueller Abi-Check Baden-Württemberg
Stand: 02.10.2026; Prüfungsjahrgang 2027 geprüft. For the 2027 Abitur at allgemein bildenden Gymnasien, the official Baden-Württemberg guidelines distinguish Teil A as the written component and Teil B as the oral communication component of the written Abitur examination in modern foreign languages.

Important: Always re-check the official documents for your examination year. The 2027 focus includes On the Move: Migration and Cross-Cultural Encounters. The practice material in this aiMOOC is invented and does not reproduce compulsory literary texts or protected film sequences.
I-can-Ziele
- I can analyse the task fast: I identify operator, topic, material, perspective, audience and expected outcome.
- I can state a thesis: I formulate one precise, arguable central claim instead of a vague topic sentence.
- I can build evidence-based points: I connect each point to material evidence, an example and an explanation.
- I can use dictionaries strategically: I check only high-value words, collocations or word families and keep speaking preparation moving.
- I can prepare interaction: I create agreement, challenge, clarification and compromise options for the dialogue.
- I can perform under realistic conditions: I train with a 15-minute timer and adapt my depth, language and support level.
Vorwissen: 90-second diagnostic
Before learning the routine, take any short English-language stimulus from class and give yourself 90 seconds. Write only: operator, one thesis, two possible points and one dialogue move. Then ask: Where did you lose time? Understanding the task? Finding evidence? Searching for words? Overwriting notes? This answer determines your training focus.

Die 15-Minuten-Preparation-Routine

Use the same sequence every time. The exact seconds are a training recommendation, not an official subdivision of the 15 minutes.
| Zeit | Fokus | Sichtbares Ergebnis auf Deinem Blatt |
|---|---|---|
| 0:00–1:30 | TASK ANALYSIS | operator, topic, material type, perspective, audience, output goal |
| 1:30–3:00 | THESIS | one precise central claim plus one qualification or limitation |
| 3:00–6:00 | KEY POINTS | three distinct points with a clear order |
| 6:00–9:00 | EVIDENCE + EXAMPLES | one material reference and one meaningful example per major point |
| 9:00–11:00 | DICTIONARY | only essential vocabulary, collocations or pronunciation cues |
| 11:00–13:00 | USEFUL PHRASES | signposting, analysis language, comparison, evaluation |
| 13:00–15:00 | DIALOGUE OPTIONS | agree, challenge, ask, develop, compromise; final 20-second scan |

TASK ANALYSIS: read for function, not for decoration
Start with the operator. Then identify what the material is doing and what your answer must do.
Fast scan: Who speaks or creates the material? What is the issue? What perspective is visible? What exactly must you analyse, assess, compare, discuss or relate? What would a successful final sentence answer?
AFB focus for Leistungsfach: Do not stop at naming content. Move quickly into relationships, effects, implications, evaluation and material linkage. Your notes should already contain more AFB II/III than pure summary.
THESIS: one sentence that controls the answer
A thesis is not The text is about migration. A useful thesis makes a claim that your later points can prove, refine or challenge.
Template: The material suggests that …; however, its impact depends on …
Quality test: Can somebody reasonably disagree with it? Can you support it from the material? Does it answer the task rather than only naming the topic?
KEY POINTS: three lanes, not ten fragments
Choose three points that do different jobs. A strong sequence can move from observation → explanation → evaluation or from cause → consequence → response. For comparison tasks, use shared criteria rather than two unrelated summaries.
LF stretch: Link material to wider course knowledge only when the link is relevant and explainable. Name the relationship; do not drop learned facts into the answer without a function.
EVIDENCE + EXAMPLES: make claims traceable

For every major point, prepare a compact chain:
POINT → EVIDENCE → EXPLANATION → EXAMPLE/CONNECTION
Evidence can be a wording choice, visual feature, contrast, statistic, speaker position, structural feature or another concrete detail from the stimulus. Never invent evidence. If a training task uses fictional data, label it as fictional.
Fictitious practice data: A fictional school survey reports that 68% of students value peer mentoring for newcomers, while 21% are unsure and 11% oppose it. These numbers are invented solely for this exercise.
Possible thesis: Peer mentoring can support cross-cultural adjustment, but its effectiveness depends on training, voluntary participation and long-term support.
DICTIONARY: two minutes, high value only
Train with the same kind of one-language and bilingual dictionary that is permitted in the preparation phase. Your dictionary is a precision tool, not a rescue tunnel.
Help ladder: context → word formation → visualization → English explanation → dictionary → German help
Use the English definition first when possible. Check a bilingual entry when meaning remains uncertain or when you need to avoid a false friend.
High-value lookups: a key noun, a verb-preposition pattern, a collocation, a word family or one pronunciation uncertainty.
Low-value lookups: words you already understand, decorative synonyms and long chains of translation.
USEFUL PHRASES: prepare functions, not a script
| Function | Useful language |
|---|---|
| Signpost | I would like to focus on three aspects … |
| Analyse | This choice suggests … because … |
| Use evidence | This is supported by … |
| Qualify | This is convincing to some extent; however … |
| Compare | Both materials address …, but they differ in … |
| Evaluate | The strongest implication is … |
| Link | This can be connected to … because … |
Do not learn entire paragraphs. Learn reusable functions and adapt them to the actual task.
DIALOGUE OPTIONS: prepare branches

Your dialogue notes should include at least four routes:
| Route | Example |
|---|---|
| Agree + develop | I agree with that point, and I would add … |
| Challenge politely | I see the argument, but I am not fully convinced because … |
| Clarify | Do you mean that …? |
| Compromise | Could we combine both ideas by …? |
Viewing task: Collect three ways to agree or disagree without closing the conversation. Then replace one generic phrase such as I agree with a more precise response.
Listening / Viewing
This Cambridge speaking test is not the Baden-Württemberg Kommunikationsprüfung. Use it as observation material only.
Watch for: How does a speaker start a long turn? How do partners pick up each other's ideas? Where do they justify rather than only state? How do they recover when they need thinking time?
Mini-task: Watch one short section, pause and write one example each of signposting, evidence or example, turn-taking and evaluation. Rephrase each in your own English.
Reading
Use short, legally shareable classroom stimuli rather than complete protected works. For exam training, your reading should lead directly into speaking.
Fictitious practice card:
A city youth council is considering a voluntary mentoring programme in which local students support newly arrived teenagers during their first six months. Supporters say the programme could build confidence and local networks. Critics warn that volunteers may be asked to take on responsibilities that belong to trained professionals.
Task A: Analyse the tensions in the proposal and develop a thesis.
Task B: Prepare two evidence-based arguments and one counterargument.
Task C: Prepare one realistic compromise for a dialogue.
Kontextwortschatz und Wortbildung
Learn vocabulary as a network.
| Core word | English explanation | Word family / collocation |
|---|---|---|
| claim | a statement that needs support | claim that · support a claim |
| evidence | information used to justify a point | evidence for · evidence suggests |
| nuance | a small but meaningful distinction | nuanced · a nuanced view |
| concede | to accept part of another position | concession · concede that |
| qualify | to limit or make a statement more precise | qualification · qualified support |
| credible | believable because it is well supported | credibility · credible source |
| integrate | to connect parts into a meaningful whole | integration · integrated approach |
| implication | a likely meaning or consequence | imply · broader implication |
Word-building drill: Take one noun from your current topic and generate verb, adjective and useful collocations. Then use two forms in a 30-second explanation.
Analyse
Use the compact 3C check:
Content: What is said or shown?
Choice: How is it expressed or constructed?
Consequence: What effect, implication or perspective follows?
For visuals, analyse selection, framing, contrast, symbols, labels, scale and relationship between elements where relevant. For argumentative text, focus on claims, evidence, assumptions, tone, structure and audience.

LF standard: A differentiated analysis recognises tensions, limitations and alternative interpretations and supports them with concrete material references.
Speaking
Five-minute monologue
Use a simple architecture:
Opening thesis → Point 1 + evidence → Point 2 + evidence → Point 3 + evaluation/link → concise conclusion
Do not write full sentences during preparation. Use keywords, arrows and evidence cues.
Timer training: Practise 5:00 without pausing the clock. If you finish before 4:30, your points may be underdeveloped. If you regularly exceed 5:15 in training, reduce examples and sharpen transitions.
Ten-minute dialogue
In the dialogue, interaction matters. Build on the partner's contribution instead of waiting for your turn to deliver a prepared mini-speech.

Dialogue cycle: respond → justify → invite → connect → negotiate
Useful prompts: What would you prioritise? · How would that work in practice? · Is there a downside we have not considered? · Could we agree on …?
Privacy: Recording yourself is optional. If you record for practice, keep the file private or local unless you explicitly choose otherwise. No upload is required.
Writing: transfer without mixing the formats
The same thinking routine helps the written exam, but the 15-minute preparation time belongs to the Kommunikationsprüfung. For writing, transfer the logic rather than the timing:
task analysis → thesis → paragraph functions → evidence → explanation → evaluation → cohesion
In the 2027 framework, the written component includes listening and writing tasks, while the Kommunikationsprüfung is the oral Teil B. Keep separate practice logs for written and spoken performance.
Mediation
If the stimulus contains German-language information, do not translate word for word. Identify purpose, audience and relevant meaning, then communicate the necessary content naturally in English.
Mini-example: German input: Die Schule möchte Patenschaften freiwillig und zeitlich begrenzt organisieren.
Possible mediation: The school plans to make the mentoring scheme voluntary and to limit each placement to a defined period.
Use German help only after context, word formation, visualization, English explanation and dictionary strategies have been tried.
Differenzierung im Leistungsfach
| Dimension | Support | Core LF | Stretch LF |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language | sentence stems and five key terms | flexible signposting and topic vocabulary | precise register, collocations and nuanced qualification |
| Amount | two developed points | three developed points | three points plus counter-position and synthesis |
| Pace | one guided 15-minute run | repeated real-time 15-minute runs | unfamiliar material with no extra time |
| Analysis | 3C prompts | evidence-based interpretation | alternative reading, limitation and cross-material link |
| Help | visible phrase bank | reduced phrase bank | no phrase bank, only dictionary |
Leistungsfach focus: Train greater breadth, depth and text complexity, more differentiated evidence-based analysis, independent material linkage and a stronger share of AFB II/III work.
Hilfen

Emergency reset after 30 seconds of blank thinking: return to the operator, state one provisional thesis, choose the clearest material detail and ask what it proves. Movement is better than perfect wording.
Preparation sheet:
| Field | Your notes |
|---|---|
| TASK | operator · focus · audience · output |
| THESIS | one arguable sentence |
| P1 | point · evidence · explanation |
| P2 | point · evidence · explanation |
| P3 | point · evidence · explanation |
| PHRASES | three functions only |
| DIALOGUE | agree · challenge · ask · compromise |
Feedback
Use feedback that points to the next action.
Partner check: Was the thesis clear? Was each major claim supported? Did the speaker explain evidence? Was the structure audible? Did the speaker respond to the partner? Was the language precise enough to express nuance?
One-plus-one rule: Give one specific strength and one next-step action. Example: Your second point used the chart clearly. Next time, explain why that evidence matters before moving on.
Fehleranalyse
Common problems and repairs:
| Problem | Repair |
|---|---|
| Task drift | underline the operator and rewrite the task in five English words |
| Summary instead of analysis | add This matters because … |
| Evidence without explanation | add one explicit link back to the thesis |
| Dictionary rabbit hole | maximum three to five high-value lookups in a normal training run |
| Memorised script | practise the same structure with a new stimulus |
| Monologue too short | deepen evidence and implications, not filler |
| Dialogue becomes two monologues | ask, react, refer back, negotiate |
| Unsupported factual claim | remove it or verify it from a reliable source before using it |
Verantwortungsvolle Medien- und KI-Nutzung
Use OER, teacher-created material, brief legally shareable stimuli and official sources. Do not reproduce complete compulsory literary texts or unauthorised film sequences.
AI output is not evidence by itself. Check factual claims and sources independently. Do not submit AI-generated replacement essays or ready-made speaking scripts as your own work.
No recording, file or personal data needs to be uploaded for this course. Do not send recordings, examination materials or personal information to external AI services without explicit, informed agreement and an approved learning setting.
Transfer
Try the routine with three new stimulus types: one image, one short quotation and one fictitious mini-chart. Keep the 15-minute limit unchanged.
Transfer prompt 1: Schools should require a community-service project for all sixth-form students. Prepare a differentiated position.
Transfer prompt 2: A fictional chart shows that students rate flexibility above salary when choosing a first job. Prepare one interpretation, one limitation and one question for a partner.
Transfer prompt 3: A visual contrasts a crowded city centre with a remote-work home office. Prepare a thesis about opportunity and inequality.
Abi-Check

Before ending your 15 minutes, check:
- Task answered? Your thesis matches the operator.
- Three points? They are distinct and ordered.
- Evidence? Important claims are anchored in the material.
- Analysis? You explain effects and implications instead of retelling.
- Language? You have the words you genuinely need.
- Dialogue? You can agree, challenge, clarify and compromise.
- Timing? Your notes are short enough to speak freely.
