E6 G - Build clear English sentences
E6 G - Build clear English sentences
Mini-Beschreibung: Build clear English sentences. Use a simple word order. Talk and write about school, hobbies and your day.
Zielgruppe: Klasse 6 · G-Niveau · Englisch als erste Fremdsprache · Baden-Württemberg
Learning path: Notice → understand → practise → use → feedback → use again.

Look at the picture. What can you say?
Try English first: Make one short sentence.
Hint: Start with a person.
German help: Beginne mit der Person oder Sache, die etwas tut.
Example: The teacher talks.
Solution idea: The teacher talks to the students.
I can...
- I can build a clear English sentence.
- I can use subject + verb + object.
- I can add place or time.
- I can speak in short clear sentences.
- I can check and improve my own sentence.
Before you start: Quick check
Say the sentences aloud.
- I play football.
- Mia reads books.
- We meet at school.
Which word tells you who does something? Which word shows the action?
Try English first: Point to the words.
Hint: Who? → action → what?
German help: Wer? → tut was? → was?
Notice: See the sentence pattern

A clear English statement often follows this pattern:
SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT
Example:
Mia reads a book.
Subject = Who or what?
Verb = What happens? What does the person do?
Object = Who or what gets the action?
Not every sentence needs an object.
Example: Ben sleeps.
Short video: Subject – Verb – Object
Watch only as much as you need. Stop and repeat examples.
Listen task: Hear the words subject, verb and object. Say them after the speaker.
Privacy note: You do not need to record yourself. If you record your voice, keep it private unless you choose to share it.
Understand: Build a clear sentence
Use this easy order:
Who? → does what? → what / who?

Try English first: Build a sentence about the picture.
Hint: student → reads → a book
German help: Setze die drei Bausteine in die Reihenfolge Person – Handlung – Objekt.
Example: The student reads ...
Solution: The student reads a book.
Add place and time
You can add extra information.
Subject + Verb + Object + Place + Time
Example:
We play football at school after lunch.
For this course, keep it simple: Who? – action – object – place – time.
Picture input: What happens?

Word bank: child · plays · football · outside
Try English first: Say one sentence.
Hint: Start with The child ...
German help: Beginne mit dem Subjekt.
Example: The child plays ...
Solution: The child plays football outside.
Vocabulary in context
Use a small word bank.
| People / things | Actions | Objects | Place / time |
|---|---|---|---|
| I, we, my friend, the student | like, play, read, eat, watch | books, football, breakfast, films, music | at school, at home, in the park, every day |
Do not learn long lists. Use the words in sentences.
Example: My friend likes music.
Picture input: Breakfast
Word bank: I · eat · breakfast · at home · in the morning
Build the sentence:
I eat breakfast at home in the morning.
Practise: Sentence builder
Put the words in the right order.
Task A: football / we / play
Try English first: ____________________
Hint: Who? → action → object
German help: Beginne mit we.
Example: We read books.
Solution: We play football.
Task B: every day / music / Sara / listens to
Try English first: ____________________
Hint: Subject first. Time at the end.
German help: Sara steht am Anfang.
Example: Tom watches films every day.
Solution: Sara listens to music every day.
Task C: at school / English / I / learn
Try English first: ____________________
Hint: subject → verb → object → place
German help: Wer? – Handlung – Objekt – Ort.
Solution: I learn English at school.
Watch and check
Watch a short part. Pause before an answer. Build the sentence yourself first.
Listen: A short school-day text
Read the text once. Then ask a partner or teacher to read it slowly two times. You can also read it aloud yourself.
Audio text:
Hi. I am Sam. I live in a small town. I walk to school with my friend. We study English in the morning. At lunch, we eat sandwiches. After school, I play football in the park.
Listening check:
- Where does Sam live?
- Who walks to school with Sam?
- What do they study?
- What does Sam do after school?
Try English first.
Hint: Listen for people, actions and places.
German help: Achte auf Person, Handlung und Ort.
Solutions: a small town · a friend · English · plays football in the park
Pronunciation: Clear beats
Clear English is more important than a perfect accent.
Say these sentences slowly:
- I PLAY FOOTball.
- WE READ BOOKS.
- MIA LIKES MUSIC.
Tap once on the important words.
Tip: Keep small words short. Stress the key words.
Try English first: Say the sentence two times.
Hint: First slow, then normal speed.
German help: Wichtig ist Verständlichkeit, nicht Akzentfreiheit.
Speak: My world
Use the starters.
- I like ...
- I play ...
- I read ...
- I watch ...
- I go to ...
- My friend likes ...
Partner task:
A: What do you like?
B: I like music.
A: Where do you listen to music?
B: I listen to music at home.
Feedback: Listen for one thing only: Is the word order clear?
Say: Good sentence. or Try subject first.
Picture talk: In the park

Make one sentence.
Word bank: dogs · play · in the park
Try English first.
Hint: Who? → action → place
German help: Hier brauchst Du kein Objekt.
Example: Children play outside.
Solution: Dogs play in the park.
Read: A short message
From: Alex
Hi Kim, I like our new school. I meet my friends in the playground every morning. We learn English in Room 12. At lunch, I eat pasta. After school, I play basketball with Leo. See you!
Reading task: Find four clear sentence patterns.
Example: I eat pasta.
Mark:
subject verb object
Write: A short message
Write 4–5 sentences to a fictional classmate.
Use this frame:
Hi Jamie,
I am ...
I like ...
I ... at school.
After school, I ...
Bye!
Word bank: music · football · books · school · home · park · play · read · like · meet
Check:
- Does each sentence start with a clear subject?
- Is the verb after the subject?
- Is the sentence easy to understand?
Data protection: Use fictional names and fictional personal details. Do not upload private information.
Optional mediation
Your German-speaking friend asks:
Was macht Alex nach der Schule?
Answer in simple German. Do not translate every word.
Try English first: Find the key sentence in the message.
Hint: Look for After school.
German help: Gib nur die wichtige Information wieder.
Example: Nach der Schule ...
Solution: Nach der Schule spielt Alex Basketball mit Leo.
Feedback and use again
Check this sentence:
Football I play after school.
What can you improve?
Try English first.
Hint: Who does the action?
German help: Das Subjekt muss nach vorn.
Example: I read books after school.
Solution: I play football after school.
Now use the pattern again. Change one part:
I play basketball after school.
Common error targets
Focus on only three things:
- Subject first: I play football.
- Verb after the subject: Mia reads books.
- Place or time later: We meet at school every day.
Do not try to fix everything at once.
