It is also wise to have the roof paved, tohave the flues at one side and to protect all skylightswith wire netting. This can all be accomplished at littleadditional cost. Hower boxes, summer houses and awn-ings help to make such a roof playground comfortable and 44 PORCHPLAYGROUNDS attractive, and all the usual equipment and apparatus ofthe yard playground may be used. A porch also makes a suitable playground,especially if it is a large one. It will haveto be protected with strong wire screeningin much the same way as the roof playground, to preventaccidents to children and throwing toys over the sides aswell. Here again as much of the usual play apparatus asthere is room for should be provided.
